Rejected Heiress, Reigning Queen novel Chapter 258

Pamela told Emma that the reason Violet never knew whether she was carrying twins was entirely because of Beatrice Lockwood.

Beatrice was incredibly superstitious. She believed ultrasounds would harm the baby, so she strictly forbade Violet from getting any scans.

Her explanation matched exactly with what Violet had told her.

"But Em, if you and Gillian really are twins, I think you need to explain this clearly to the Lockwood family."

Pamela grabbed Emma's hand, comforting her. "If you're worried Gillian will object, give it some time, and I can go talk to her. That girl still listens to me."

"Thank you, Pamela. That would be wonderful."

Emma hadn't expected Pamela to actually believe her.

But before Pamela could have that talk with Gillian, the highly anticipated fashion show began.

As a shareholder of Clara's company, Emma had to attend the event alongside Jocelyn.

"Em, I heard a bit about what's going on with the Lockwood family. Are you okay?" Jocelyn asked with concern.

Emma shook her head. "I'm fine."

These matters were far too complicated and entangled with decades-old secrets. Plus, knowing Jocelyn's fiery temper, Emma decided it was best to investigate on her own for now.

Knowing her junior wasn't one to impose on others, Jocelyn didn't press the issue.

Regardless of what happened, Emma's three seniors would always be her safety net.

Emma and Jocelyn were seated in the very front row of the show—the best seats in the judges' section. The moment Phoebe walked in, her eyes locked onto the striking Emma.

As their gazes inadvertently met, Phoebe's eyes filled with profound disappointment and disgust.

Emma pressed her lips together. It seemed Phoebe also believed she was the one behind the restaurant incident.

"Previously, I thought Phoebe's work showed a lot of flair. Given your connection, I was planning to sign her to the company and groom her. But looking at it now, she doesn't seem like a good fit."

Jocelyn had no intention of mentoring someone who harbored such obvious hostility toward her junior.

"Jocelyn, whether she joins the company should depend solely on her commercial value. Personal feelings don't need to factor into it. It's not like I sit in the office every day anyway."

"Because this was exactly how fiercely she used to defend me. She couldn't stand seeing me suffer the slightest injustice."

Jocelyn sighed. "So how do you plan to handle this?"

"Strictly business. Fearlessness in youth is considered passion; fearlessness now is just sheer stupidity."

Emma casually toyed with the bracelet on her wrist. Jocelyn understood immediately.

She shot her assistant a look. The assistant promptly took a microphone from the event organizers.

"This designer's question is entirely valid, though delivered a bit recklessly. As you said, this fashion show is incredibly professional, which is exactly why the people sitting on the judging panel aren't merely doctors."

The assistant's words were impeccably smooth. Under the curious gaze of the entire room, she continued:

"The two ladies sitting beside me are Clara, the President of Amethyst Design Co. and a multi-award-winning designer known globally as Dori; and the Vice President of Amethyst, who is the creative mind behind the patterns and motifs of many of the company's award-winning pieces."

As the assistant finished, the room erupted into an uproar. Phoebe's eyes widened in sheer disbelief.

"Now, do any other designers have questions regarding the professionalism of our two judges?"
