"Tobias is from Garrison City too?"
Emma sat in her office in the experimental department as Travis handed her a stack of documents.
After getting Levi out yesterday, she had called Travis to brief him on everything that had happened at the club.
Travis had immediately sent his people to investigate, and they had uncovered quite a bit in just one day.
"Yeah, his business interests span across multiple industries, and he's got quite a bit of influence abroad," Travis said, frowning. "With his level of power, he shouldn't need to suck up to the Harringtons. Why on earth would he target you?"
Emma's gaze darkened as she recalled Jean Sutton's family being suddenly brought out by Gillian.
Could Tobias have some connection to Gillian?
"You need to stick close to me for a while, just in case he tries something else."
Judging by what happened to VP Levi alone, Travis knew Tobias operated with a ruthlessness that surpassed his own. He wasn't about to let Emma face that kind of danger.
"No, I'm going to Garrison City."
Emma narrowed her eyes. Uncovering the truth about what happened all those years ago was an absolute priority.
"To find Carter?" Travis asked, a hint of irritation in his voice.
Emma pursed her lips. "I need to know who framed me. I have to find out the truth about how Violet got hurt."
It wasn't just about the injury; it was about the conspiracy from twenty-three years ago.
With Carter currently staying at Mercy Private Hospital, it was the perfect opportunity.
"Fine, you can go, but you have to promise me that under no circumstances will you let your bodyguards out of your sight."
Travis suddenly felt a pang of regret. If he had focused more on expanding his domestic network earlier, he wouldn't feel so short-handed right now.
Emma nodded in agreement and left for Garrison City that very day.
Meanwhile, in a villa on the outskirts of the capital.
Tobias sat in the living room, looking at Gillian with an indulgent gleam in his eye.
"Come here."
He beckoned to Gillian as if calling a pet.
"Yes." Gillian's gaze darkened in agreement.
Tobias's lips curled into a smirk as he lowered her onto the sofa. "Go break up with your little boyfriend. You know how I feel about sharing what's mine."
The sheer possessiveness of his words made Gillian uneasy, but she didn't dare refuse.
From the moment she had reached out to Tobias, she had stepped back into the abyss. She was no longer the entitled Gillian who could do whatever she pleased.
"I understand."
Gillian agreed, and Tobias nodded in satisfaction.
"You can use my people however you see fit, but I won't intervene this time. I need to see if my kitten has forgotten everything I taught her over the last six years."
Gillian bit her lip. Of course she hadn't forgotten his methods; she just didn't want to remember them.
The resolve in her eyes intensified. Under Tobias's watchful gaze, she dialed Phoebe's number.
"Phoebe, about what happened back then... I think it's time I told you the truth."
