Rejected Heiress, Reigning Queen novel Chapter 307

Emma immediately called Julian, but the call didn't go through.

She dialed several more times in rapid succession, all of which failed to connect.

Panic flared in Emma's chest. She really couldn't sit still any longer.

"Chase, prep the car for the airport."

Emma's gaze darkened. In the next second, Jeff arrived.

"Mrs. Harrington, George and Marian are safe."

Jeff spoke softly. Emma stared at him in disbelief.

They were safe?

"We just received this photo from the team on the ground."

Jeff produced a slightly blurry photograph, but she could clearly see George and Marian had been moved to a secure location.

Emma pressed her lips together, terrified that the image might be doctored.

"How did you get this photo?"

She had tried calling so many times without a single connection. The signal in the area had clearly been jammed.

"The moment you spoke with George, Mr. Harrington immediately contacted our local operatives. They transmitted this photo via satellite phone. The official rescue operation is underway, and communications should be restored shortly."

Seeing Emma's expression soften only slightly, Jeff added, "You'll be able to contact Julian and the others very soon. Mr. Harrington said you shouldn't worry."

Jeff had selfishly tacked on that last sentence to help out his boss.

Emma clutched her phone, staring at the photo over and over again until Julian finally messaged her half an hour later, confirming their parents had been evacuated to safety. Only then did the heavy weight in her chest finally dissolve.

"Travis stayed behind to clean up the mess and captured a few of the attackers. Dad took a bullet to the arm. He's only had a basic surgery so far, and we plan to transfer him to CFT's headquarters for proper treatment. I'll be staying out of the country for a while, so you need to be careful during this time."

Julian instructed her carefully. Emma murmured in agreement, adding, "I can fly over to perform the surgery."

"No need. It's a minor procedure. Just stay in the country and keep yourself safe. If anything comes up, reach out to our people."

The Vance family had more than just Julian handling things, which set Emma's mind at ease a little further.

She gave the signal to let him in. The moment he stepped into the living room and saw her wearing an apron, his brow furrowed in disapproval.

"You abandoned all your work at the office just to come home and cook?"

Emma calmly untied her apron. "What do you want?"

Charles cleared his throat. "For the Southwest District development project, Carter only allocated five percent of the sector to us. I need you to talk to him. We want at least fifteen percent."

Emma's mind quickly ran the numbers. "Five percent isn't a small slice. The Moores only got two percent."

"How is that the same? Don't forget that your mother is in her current state entirely because of you. You owe our family a life. Forget fifteen percent; even if we asked for thirty, you'd still owe it to us."

Charles demanded righteously, making Emma's expression turn ice-cold.

"I don't owe you a damn thing. If the Lockwood family thinks five percent isn't enough, I'll have Carter take it back. You can find your own way to secure a piece of that project, and whatever you can manage to grab is entirely on your own merit."

Hearing this, Charles flew into a rage. "You don't owe us? If your mother's injuries truly had nothing to do with you, why would you trade this massive project just for a chance to visit her?"

"It's because you feel guilty."
