Rejected Heiress, Reigning Queen novel Chapter 306

That afternoon, Emma received a message that Logan wanted to see her.

But when she arrived at the restaurant's private dining room, she found Gillian sitting alone inside.

"It's just you?" Emma frowned.

Her feelings toward Gillian were incredibly complicated. On one hand, ever since she returned to the country, Gillian had targeted her with relentless malice, leaving Emma feeling nothing but disgust for the woman.

Yet, from the moment she saw the DNA test results, the strange, undeniable bond of blood had layered her emotions with a complex weight.

This girl, who was the exact same age, was her twin sister. If not for the tragic baby-swap incident all those years ago, they would have been inseparable.

"Just me. I'm the one who invited you."

The usual arrogant and domineering glare was gone from Gillian's eyes, replaced by a much darker, sinister aura.

If this had been any other day, Emma would have turned and walked out immediately. This time, however, she took a seat.

"What do you want?"

Completely oblivious to Emma's subtle shift in demeanor, Gillian sat casually in her chair and tossed a stack of photos onto the table.

"Take a look."

Emma picked them up, and her pupils instantly constricted.

They were candid shots of her foster parents on their vacation overseas. It documented everywhere they had gone, the hotel they stayed at...

From the looks of it, they had been stalked for a long time.

The final photograph showed their private villa engulfed in roaring flames.

"What is the meaning of this?" Emma's face remained impassive, though a violent storm was already raging in her chest.

Gillian crossed her arms, a malicious grin stretching across her face. "I wanted you to experience what it feels like to have your family in danger."

Her smile radiated raw, unfiltered cruelty. Seeing Emma remain entirely unbothered, she pushed further,

"Well? How does it feel knowing the people you care about are dangling on the edge of death?"

Emma gripped the photos, an incredibly powerful, commanding aura erupting from her the moment she raised her eyes.

She absolutely loathed her.

And the venom she was radiating now was infinitely more potent than when Emma had first returned to the country, or when Percy had tried to pursue her again.

Why was she reacting like this?

"Emma, everything I did to you before was just a game. But this isn't."

Gillian's eyes gradually settled into an eerie calm, but Emma could feel the violent hysteria simmering just beneath the surface.

With her medical background, Emma vaguely sensed that something was psychologically wrong with her.

"I think you need to go see a professional."

Emma offered a genuine warning, but Gillian took it as an insult. She sneered, "Rescue teams will never move faster than the executioners on the ground. Just you wait—"

She sauntered over to Emma, placed a hand on her shoulder, and whispered with gleeful, sadistic amusement,

"Get ready to read the eulogies."
