"What lipstick is so popular?"
Jocelyn strolled over from the other side. Hearing there was only one left, she was intrigued.
The sales clerk took one look at Jocelyn's head-to-toe luxury attire and beamed. Snatching the lipstick right out of Summer's hand, she enthusiastically started pitching it to Jocelyn.
Emma smiled without a word and pulled Summer over to the opposite counter.
Jocelyn quickly realized what had happened. She put the lipstick down and turned to find her junior.
"Buying just one is too much of a hassle. Let's just get every shade. You're gorgeous anyway, so any color will look great on you."
Jocelyn pulled out a sleek credit card. "It's on me."
The clerk, furious at losing a high-rolling customer, sneered and cast a sideways glare at Emma. "So she can't even afford it herself."
Jocelyn found the comment absolutely laughable. "She can't afford it?"
"Miss, I've seen plenty of these parasitic friends," the clerk warned with sarcastic venom. "They eat and drink on their friend's dime, only knowing how to leech money off them. You should be careful."
Emma turned around calmly, a faint smile playing on her lips.
"I don't believe we know each other. Why all the hostility?"
Emma's tone remained gentle and composed, but the clerk simply rolled her eyes, glaring at her and Summer. "Just look at the stench of poverty on you two. Do you really think you belong in a Harrington-owned mall?"
At the mention of the Harrington name, Jocelyn's expression shifted into something highly amused.
The clerk mistook her silence for fear and grew even more arrogant. "Mr. Harrington himself comes to our store to order cosmetics for his wife. This obviously isn't a place you can just waltz into."
"Is that so?"
Emma crossed her arms and casually glanced up at the store's sign.
Just then, Gillian Lockwood appeared.
"Ms. Lockwood! We just got a new shipment in, and the items are perfect for you."
The clerk, who had been sneering just seconds ago, completely transformed into a fawning servant.
Gillian had no idea what had just transpired. She simply pointed at Emma and announced, "I'll take everything she was about to buy."
