Rejected Heiress, Reigning Queen novel Chapter 57

Gillian and Charles were unceremoniously kicked out of the banquet hall, both wearing exceedingly ugly expressions.

Meanwhile, with Bernard facing an imminent prison sentence, Beatrice was throwing violent tantrums every single day.

"I have an idea."

The moment Gillian spoke, the entire family's attention zeroed in on her.

Basking in the spotlight, she said, "If we can just force Emma to sell that car, Uncle Bernard's problems will vanish overnight."

"That wretched girl is incredibly cunning now. Who could possibly force her to sell her car?" Audrey rolled her eyes, treating Gillian's brilliant idea like hot air.

If Emma had any intention of helping the Lockwoods, she wouldn't have called the police and exposed the tax fraud in the first place.

Gillian cast a fleeting, calculated glance at her mother. Logan, observing quietly, caught the look.

He pressed his lips together, his expression turning grim.

Beatrice noticed the exchange as well. She immediately sprang up, hobbled over to Violet, and viciously struck her with her wooden cane.

"It's all your fault, you absolute jinx! If you hadn't insisted on taking a vacation while pregnant, you wouldn't have gone into early labor and needed that emergency C-section! Not only did you cause my real granddaughter to be stranded out there, but you also raised this massive nightmare for our family!"

The solid wood cane slammed hard against Violet's arm. She was in agonizing pain and deeply wronged, but she didn't dare utter a word.

Even she believed it was entirely her fault.

"Go find Emma! At the very least, she still acknowledges you as her mother. She bailed Tristan out last time because you went to her. This time, you have to force her to sell that car, no matter what it takes!"

Fuming, Beatrice marched back to her seat and scoffed. "A young girl buying a multimillion-dollar car just to give away to some man? She's practically begging for it! Even if she doesn't care about humiliating herself, the Lockwood family still has a reputation to uphold!"

Violet murmured tearfully, "I don't think I can do it this time. After the incident with the reporters blew up, Emma must truly despise me now."

But that girl had always cared deeply for her mother. If Violet went, there might still be a sliver of hope.

Violet shook her head, sobbing. "I refused to show the bank statements to protect Gillian last time. How could I possibly have the face to go beg her now?"

Hearing this, Gillian flew into a rage. She threw herself onto the sofa and burst into dramatic tears.

"Are you blaming this on me?! None of you ever told me exactly how much money you gave her! What's wrong with me wanting to know the truth?"

Her tears only deepened Violet's conviction that she herself was the one to blame.

Watching the house descend into absolute madness, Logan let out a long, heavy sigh.

"Enough. I'll go see Emma on Mom's behalf. If she refuses to help, I'll find another way to deal with Uncle Bernard's situation."
