The man's magnetic voice cut in. "I chased Willow."
"Whoa!"
"Ahhh!"
The crowd practically squealed.
The CEO of the Shelby Group publicly admitting he pursued Willow—if this hit the magazines, it would be an absolute bombshell.
Yvette felt absolutely nothing. She just quietly continued eating.
Matthew angrily slammed his fork down. "Nope, I can't do this. This is too sickening. I've lost my appetite."
"Here, your favorite shrimp," Yvette said, placing one onto his plate. "Free food always tastes the best."
"You..." Matthew was exasperated.
Their little exchange drew the attention of the table.
Blythe smirked. "What's the relationship between you and Mr. Sutton, Ms. Yeats?"
Willow watched Yvette with a half-smile. She wanted to see how Yvette would explain this.
Jabez also looked over, appearing somewhat curious.
"If you're this obsessed with other people's private lives, Blythe, you'd make a great paparazzo," Yvette replied coldly.
Matthew's expression darkened. If they thought they could use him to suck up to Willow, they were dreaming.
"Yvette and I have known each other for ten years."
Jabez's dark eyes locked onto the two of them. Willow noticed his gaze and felt a fleeting moment of panic.
The next second, he withdrew his gaze and reached over to put some food on Willow's plate.
Looking at the braised pork on her plate, she smiled.
Blythe froze, surprised to learn that Yvette and Matthew went that far back.
Then, remembering Yvette's sharp retort, a flash of anger crossed her eyes.
Willow stepped in to smooth things over, and under her lead, the atmosphere livened up again.
Everyone relaxed. Some left their seats, wandering around with wine glasses to chat.
Matthew leaned in close to Yvette. "My dad's calling. I'm going to step out and take this."
