Grandmother had always been incredibly kind to her, and she genuinely wanted to do something nice for her in return.

The maid stared at the piece of paper in her hand, awkwardly reading off the menu written on it. Once she finished, she waited nervously for Yvette's response.

Yvette frowned as she heard the list of dishes.

The items the maid listed were things Grandmother rarely ate. However, Yvette figured that illness could temporarily change a person's palate, so she didn't dwell on it.

"I understand."

Yvette gave the maid an address and told her to have the family driver come pick up the food later.

The maid quickly agreed.

Cleaning up her workspace, Yvette went downstairs to buy fresh groceries before heading back up to prep the ingredients.

Perhaps due to her pregnancy, her lower back started to ache after standing for so long.

She reached back to knead her sore muscles and continued bustling around the kitchen.

Even with the exhaust hood running on high, the faint smell of cooking oil still made her stomach turn.

She opened the windows to air out the kitchen and reduce the grease smell, but her stomach still churned uncomfortably.

Desperate to finish and escape the kitchen quickly, Yvette turned on both burners simultaneously.

The heavy scent of oil seemed to seep into every breath she took. She endured it for as long as she could, until she finally couldn't hold it back anymore. She rushed into the bathroom and threw up.

Physiological tears welled in her eyes, and a bitter taste coated her mouth.

She washed her face, thoroughly rinsed her mouth, and finally stepped out of the bathroom.

Half an hour later, all the dishes were neatly packed into thermal containers. She drove downstairs and headed to the location she had given the maid.

Just as she parked, someone tapped on her window.

It was the Shelby family driver.

Ever since that ugly creep ambushed her in the parking garage, Yvette had formed a strict habit of locking her car doors the second she got in.

She unlocked the doors. "They're on the passenger seat."

The driver grabbed the thermal bags, thanked her respectfully, and walked away.

Starting the engine, Yvette headed straight home and buried herself back into her restoration studio to continue working.
