“Thank you, thank you so much,” the driver said, looking as though he was about to drop to his knees in gratitude.

Yvette hastily helped him up, then grabbed her suitcase and left.

She arrived at the room Sybil had booked for her at the Highland Retreat. It was Penthouse 888, a luxurious presidential suite.

Just as she finished unpacking, her phone rang.

“Yvette, dear, have you arrived?”

“I’m here. Are you here yet, Sybil?” Yvette asked, assuming they would be having a meal together soon.

“Something came up at the last minute, so I won't be able to make it. But don't worry, I've already called Jabez. You two enjoy some quality time together.”

Sybil couldn't hide the amusement in her voice.

It suddenly dawned on Yvette—the older woman had tricked her into coming.

Well, since she was already here, she might as well make the most of it.

Her stomach rumbled, so she decided to grab a bite to eat downstairs before taking a walk around the grounds.

It was 2:00 PM, and the restaurant was mostly empty. She picked out some food from the buffet and found an empty seat.

Not far away, Trent spotted her and let out a mocking scoff. He gestured with his chin in Yvette’s direction. “She really is like a ghost that won't go away. She must have seen the photo I posted on my feed and followed us.”

They had arrived that morning, and he had deliberately posted a group picture online. Yvette had clearly come tracking them down!

Jabez, Milton, and Willow all followed his gaze and saw Yvette sitting there.

A flash of annoyance crossed Willow's eyes. Yvette knows full well that Jabez doesn't love her, yet she still throws herself at him. Has she no self-respect?

Milton scoffed. “She sounded so resolute when she spoke of the divorce papers the other day. I actually believed her for a second.”

“If she was actually willing to sign the papers, I might have had a shred of respect for her.” Trent let out a sharp whistle. Seeing Yvette look over, a cold smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth.

“What a coincidence, Ms. Yeats. Why don't you come over and join us?”

She ended up sleeping in her room until evening.

When she finally woke up, she changed into a swimsuit, went down to the pool area, and sat on the edge.

She was looking down at her phone, texting Charlotte about her obnoxious run-in with Trent.

Behind her, the sound of kids playing and shouting grew closer. Without warning, someone slammed into Yvette's back, sending her toppling uncontrollably toward the water.

Splash.

Yvette crashed into the pool. She swallowed a mouthful of water, her ears instantly submerged, her vision blurring into a chaotic swirl. Her first instinct wasn't to save herself, but to subconsciously curl up and protect her stomach.

Her baby, her baby! She absolutely could not let Jabez find out she was pregnant!

If Sybil caught wind of this, she would never allow her and Jabez to divorce!

A second later, a pair of strong, muscular arms locked around her waist. Even through the thin fabric of her swimsuit, she could feel the blistering heat of the man's large hands.
