"What a coincidence. Nice to see you here, Ms. Huxley."
"Milton! I didn't expect to run into you."
Willow stood up, bringing Chloe with her. "Let me introduce you. This is Chloe, my best friend."
"Chloe, this is Milton Graham, a friend of mine."
In Willow's mind, considering her connection to Jabez, claiming Milton as a friend wasn't a stretch.
"Ms. Caldwell." Milton politely extended a hand.
Chloe stared at him for a few seconds before snapping out of it, quickly grasping his hand. "Milton, we've actually met before. Do you remember?"
"Chloe, you two know each other?" Willow asked, surprised.
Milton looked blank for a moment. "I'm sorry, I don't recall."
"I'm Stanton's younger sister! You used to come over to our house to hang out with my brother. We met a few times back then."
"But it's been a while, so it makes sense you wouldn't remember."
"Oh, Stanton's sister!" realization dawned on Milton's face.
He and Stanton Caldwell were close friends in high school, though they had lost touch after Stanton moved abroad for university.
Their contact had gradually dwindled.
His large, warm hand enveloped hers, sending a jolt of electricity straight to her core.
He politely withdrew his hand.
"Um, Milton? Could I get your contact info?" Chloe asked, her heart hammering.
"Of course." Milton pulled out his phone and added her on the messaging app.
"I've got an errand to run, so I'll see you ladies later."
"Bye!" Chloe waved eagerly.
"Drive safe, Milton," Willow chimed in before sitting back down.
