Restoring a Life After Seven Years of Wrong Love novel Chapter 233

Yvette was deep in some research papers when her phone suddenly rang. It was Jabez.

A flash of confusion crossed her face. Did he need her to play along for another visit to the Shelby Estate?

She answered the call.

"Hello?"

"Come out here."

His icy voice filtered through the speaker.

"What for?" Yvette frowned.

The contract she signed only stipulated she help him fool his family.

It never said she had to be at his beck and call 24/7.

"Security footage shows you picking up Willow's pendant."

"Willow's pendant?" A chill crept into Yvette's eyes.

She had worn that piece for years. Her initials were literally carved into it.

There was zero chance she was mistaken!

"Can I give it back to you in a few days?"

Even knowing he'd refuse, she couldn't help but ask.

It was her grandfather's birthday gift, after all.

Predictably, his rejection was swift and cold. "No."

"Fine, I get it."

If she refused, he had dozens of ways to force her out.

Winona glanced at the clock. Dinner was almost ready.

"Yvette, we're about to eat. Where are you going?"

"I need to run an errand, Winona. Don't wait up for me."

Yvette waved as she headed out the door.

She had barely driven out of the Suttons' gated community when she spotted a familiar Maybach.

It was Jabez's car.

Was he just passing by, or did he know she was living here?

The black car didn't stop, instead peeling off in another direction.
