Yvette scoffed. His words sounded high and mighty, but in reality, he was just cheap.

"Call the police, then."

Seeing that she was completely unyielding, Quentin's eyes flickered with a dark, suppressed anger.

Rhonda panicked. The Huxley Group was right in the middle of negotiating a major partnership. If they were photographed causing a scene right now, the fallout would be disastrous.

"Yvette, we'll cover your medical bills and the car repairs. Let's just settle this privately."

"Don't act like you're doing me a favor. You're legally obligated to pay for the medical bills and repairs. You are entirely at fault for this crash," Yvette replied, her voice ice-cold.

"Yvette, does it really have to be this antagonistic between father and daughter?"

Yvette turned her head to look at him. Quentin was staring at her with an expression of agonizing heartbreak.

As if she had committed some unspeakable, treasonous crime.

"I don't have time to waste with you. Medical bills, repair costs, lost wages, emotional distress, and transportation fees—you will compensate us for every single one of them. Otherwise, I'm calling the cops to come down here and officially determine fault."

She could tell Quentin and Rhonda were terrified of involving the authorities.

"Fine. A father should provide for his daughter, after all. Consider it compensation for all these years," Quentin said, dressing his surrender in pretty words.

"Two hundred thousand, wired straight to Yvette's account," Charlotte added, clutching her forehead with one hand, looking very much like she was ready to fake a severe concussion and bleed them dry if they refused.

Quentin swallowed the protest on the tip of his tongue. Rhonda gritted her teeth, fury burning in her eyes.

She would remember this humiliation. One day, she'd make them pay it all back!

After receiving the transfer, Yvette and Charlotte left without a second glance.

Quentin and Rhonda stared after Yvette's retreating figure with ashen faces.

Willow's call came through, her anxious voice pouring from the speaker.

"Mom, are you and Dad okay? Where are you?"

"We're fine, Willow," Rhonda ground out. "The car in front of us was Yvette's. She extorted two hundred thousand out of us."

"I see," Willow paused for a few seconds before softly replying.

She heavily emphasized the word "steal."

Willow's movements faltered slightly.

Yvette had deliberately revealed her relationship with Jabez to Charlotte for this exact reason—to ensure Charlotte saw exactly who Willow was.

She really was shameless.

Knowing full well that Jabez didn't even love her, she still went out of her way to broadcast their supposedly intimate relationship.

It seemed she had reaped quite a few benefits by acting like the future Mrs. Shelby.

No wonder she refused to step down.

"That's not quite how it works, Ms. Clark," Willow said with a faint, condescending smile. "You were looking at it first, sure, but you haven't bought it yet."

Willow pulled an exclusive black card from her bag and handed it to the clerk.

She threw a smug, triumphant glance at Yvette.
