Linda probably didn’t hold a fraction of the place in his heart that Isabella did.

“Well, Xavier? These two are sticking to their stories,” Teresa remarked, her tone shifting unexpectedly. After watching Linda and the young caregiver go back and forth, she almost seemed amused. “Looks like your Bella really is innocent.”
Isabella was taken aback. She’d assumed Teresa would side with Linda without question.
Clearly, Linda was just as surprised. She’d thought for sure Teresa would back her up–after all, the Moore family had always treated her well. And earlier, Teresa had jumped to conclusions after hearing only Linda’s side of things, ready to point fingers at
Isabella…
Linda had even wondered if Teresa was someone Stanley had sent specifically to support her.
Maybe… Teresa just genuinely couldn’t stand Isabella.
The young caregiver grew more desperate by the second, her mind racing until she finally remembered something crucial.
“When I left earlier, I’m not sure if any cameras caught me, but I remember the route I took. You can check the surveillance footage,” she pleaded, voice trembling. “Linda and I split up right outside the ward. I never even stepped inside!”
“Xavier, you believe me, don’t you?” Linda was fully panicking now. Seeing Teresa wasn’t on her side, she hurried over to him, eyes red and welling up. “No matter what anyone else says… you know how I really feel about you…”
But as soon as she reached for his hand, he pulled away.
“Aunt Teresa is the elder here,” Xavier said, his voice cool and detached. “Whatever she decides is fine.”
He didn’t even glance at Linda, his tone utterly dismissive.
“Xavier…” Linda trembled, staring at him in disbelief.
When Isabella had been under questioning earlier, Xavier hadn’t hesitated to step in and shield her.
But now that it was her turn,.. he’d pushed her aside without a second thought.
A faint smile touched Teresa’s lips as she signaled to one of her people. “In that case, let’s do as the caregiver suggested and pull the surveillance footage.”
The young caregiver finally let out a shaky breath of relief. Linda’s legs nearly gave out, and she leaned heavily against the wall for support.
But before Teresa’s assistant could move, the call bell from the ward rang, Harry reacted immediately–Noah was awake.
He hurried inside and found Noah struggling to sit up,
“You should stay lying down for now,” Harry said gently, stopping him.
The wound on Noah’s wrist wasn’t deep, and the stitching hadn’t taken long. They’d used only a local anesthetic, so he’d woken up soon after the procedure.
Seeing Noah awake, Teresa followed close behind. “Noah, honey, how are you feeling?”

Her gaze toward him was noticeably softer than the one she’d given Xavier.

she reached out as if to check his bandages, but stopped halfway, simply adjusting the edge of the blanket to cover his injured hand.
‘Don’t worry, Aunt Teresa. I’m okay,” Noah replied quietly.
Then he noticed Isabella and the others had gathered around his bedside. His pale lips curved slightly. “Why’s everyone crowding
n here? I’m not dead.”
Just because you didn’t die this time doesn’t mean there won’t be a next,” Teresa said, shooting a pointed look toward Xavier. ‘After all, some people might not be too concerned whether you make it or not.”
Kavier ignored her comment. “How did this happen?”
His voice was cold, the question more out of formality than any real expectation of an answer.
Overcome with guilt, the young caregiver stepped forward. “Mr. Noah Moore, I’m so sorry! This is all my fault… I wasn’t watching you closely enough. I failed in my duty…”
Linda immediately knelt beside Noah’s bed. “Noah, it’s Linda. Do you remember what happened? Who hurt you?”
But Noah only frowned slightly, taking in everyone’s tense expressions. “I’m sorry for worrying you all,” he said, voice weak. “I just… had a moment where I couldn’t see a way out.”
His words left everyone in stunned silence.
Isabella’s eyes briefly met Noah’s, her gaze silently questioning.
She knew perfectly well Noah would never do something like this to himself.
When she’d left earlier, he’d already been asleep under the influence of the medication.
And even if he were going to harm himself, he would never have chosen to do it while she was still there.
