Chapter 134 Unforgivable
Chapter 134 Unforgivable
Xavier stared at Isabella. She refused to meet his gaze. Even as her words pleaded for mercy, her eyes remained tightly shut.
His throat tightened. The heat in his eyes had faded, leaving them dark and hollow–like a star burned out, its light scattered to dust across the galaxy. In them lay a landscape of desolation, a loneliness so fierce it verged on self–destruction.
Slowly, he turned his palm, brushing her delicate cheek to wipe the tears tracing from the corner of her
eye.
A long moment passed before Isabella felt his weight lift from her. Xavier’s tall figure moved away, footsteps heavy as he headed for the door.
“I’ve arranged for specialists. They’ll consult on your son’s case tomorrow morning.” His voice was low, stripped of its earlier ice, carrying instead a tinge of defeat. “I won’t harm a child. But if you even think about running… that’s a different matter.”
The warning in his words was unmistakable. He was threatening her–using the one person she cared about most.
Before she could respond, Xavier pulled the door open. The maids who’d been pressed against it nearly stumbled at his feet.
Only Skyler stood firm, his small face flushed, gaze locked on Xavier. Tear tracks streaked his cheeks, but the crying stopped the instant their eyes met.
Now his expression was all defiance–cheeks puffed, lips pressed into a firm pout, big eyes glaring unblinking.
Hah, Daddy.
A cold mask settled over Xavier’s features, weariness lingering faintly between his brows. He gave the boy only a brief, indifferent glance before turning to the staff.
This is Mrs. Moore’s son. From now on, attend to anything concerning him. Do not let Mrs. Moore overexert herself.”
The maids exchanged looks, then nodded quickly. “Yes, sir.”
They’d expected punishment, but Xavier simply walked away after those detached instructions. Watching him leave, they felt an unexpected pang of sympathy.
Isabella’s son… only brought back now, and already so grown…
Could it be… one of those raising another man’s child situations?
If so… maybe his anger toward Isabella wasn’t so hard to understand…
“Jason!”

Chapter 134 Unforgivable
Isabella rushed out, quickly smoothing her clothes before sweeping Skyler back into her arms. “It’s okay now, sweetheart. Mommy’s here…”
Skyler didn’t make a sound, just held onto her tighter.
So Daddy had been hurting Mommy all along. No wonder Mommy never talked about him.
An hour later, Isabella had declined the maids‘ help. Just like at home, she bathed Skyler herself, gently coaxing him to sleep. She kept a soft smile on her face the whole time, seeming calm.
But Skyler watched her quietly. Mommy was always so strong and gentle with them–yet today, when she’d run out to hold him, he’d seen tears on her face.
Daddy… is unforgivable.

Meanwhile, across town, Hannah was panicking in her hotel room.
The couples‘ contest she and Harry had entered–the one at the county fair–had been filmed by the local TV station. And now they were going to air it.
When the producer called to tell her, Hannah froze.
It might not be prime–time national TV, but what if… what if Isabella saw it?
She tried to persuade them to edit her and Harry out, but there was a problem: they’d won. Cutting the winning couple would leave the segment with no payoff.
Besides, by signing up, they’d agreed to be filmed–a clause Hannah hadn’t bothered to read in her excitement.
So consumed was she by this new problem, she hadn’t even noticed how late Skyler had returned.
It wasn’t until well past dinner–with no little boy coming to pester her about eating–that she sensed something was off.
She found his bedroom door locked.
This kid. Drives me up the wall, tricks me, and now he’s giving me attitude?
“Skyler! Do you have any idea what you’ve done?” Hannah knocked sharply on the door. “Because of that stupid trophy, your mom might find out I’m back in the country!”
And he wasn’t even that into race cars! She’d hauled all that merchandise back, and he hadn’t so much as glanced at it.
Silence.
