Isabella didn’t hesitate–she rushed toward the child, but the two bodyguards held her back effortlessly. Even the maid tried to step in, only to be shoved aside.
Skyler’s small hand stretched out desperately toward his mother, fingers straining, but no matter how hard she fought, she couldn’t reach him.
“Let him go! If you have an issue, take it up with me… What kind of coward goes after a little kid? Stanley, have you no shame? At your age–does the Moore family have no dignity left?”
Isabella threw herself against the guards with everything she had, but she was outnumbered and overpowered.
Wilson motioned for one of them to snatch her phone. Not that calling for help would’ve done much good anyway –she was completely on her own.
Her words hit Stanley where it hurt.
She’d called him out in front of everyone for targeting a child, and just like that, his carefully maintained image of respectability cracked open.
Teresa seized the moment to step between them. “There’s no need to manhandle a child.”
She turned to Stanley. “Dad, maybe we should leave this for today. This is really Xavier’s matter to handle… Isabella is still his wife, after all. He won’t be happy if you-
“Enough. Nobody asked you.”
Stanley was seething at Isabella’s remark, but he kept his voice steady. “I don’t discuss honor with people who have none.
“If Xavier can’t make the tough call, I’ll make it for him.”
With that, Stanley gave Wilson a look. Wilson understood immediately and directed the bodyguards to take Skyler away by force.
Isabella couldn’t stop them. She managed to wrench free from one guard, but Wilson clamped a hand around her throat.
His grip was iron–tight, squeezing until Isabella could barely drag in a breath.
Tears blurred her vision. For a terrifying moment, she was certain this man intended to kill her right there.
“Wilson!” Teresa exclaimed, alarmed. The icy look in Wilson’s eyes sent a chill through even her.
Wilson had a dark past long before he started working for Stanley.
Stanley once told Teresa he valued Wilson precisely because he was loyal and dangerous – like a perfectly

So even though Teresa disliked him, she never dared to confront him directly.

She quickly appealed to Stanley again.. “Even if you intend to have someone dealt with, this isn’t the place. Xavier could be back any minute.”
“That’s enough.”
Stanley’s voice was low and left no room for argument. Only then did Wilson release Isabella.
Her legs gave out, and she hit the floor hard.
Wilson gave a slight, respectful nod to Stanley. “Mr. Moore, now that we’ve come this far, if we don’t wrap this up clean, it’s only going to cause bigger problems down the road.”
Isabella clutched her throat, gasping.
The shock of nearly dying still raced through her veins, but right now, her own safety didn’t matter.
“Just let my son go… whatever you want… we can talk…”
Her face was flushed, her voice thin and strained.
“But if anything happens to us today… believe me, your family won’t walk away from this.”
That made Wilson smirk coldly.
“Still running your mouth when you’re one step from the edge? You really think Xavier’s gonna ride in to save you

Wilson didn’t finish. Stanley raised a hand, cutting him off.
Stanley took a slow breath and looked down at Isabella with disdain. “What exactly are you trying to say?”

“Have you heard of… the Carters?” Isabella lifted her head. Her voice was still breathless, but her eyes burned with defiance.

Xavier was in a board meeting when a man barged onto the top floor of Moore Group. Staff tried to stop him, but he pushed past them.
Outside the executive offices, Amelia was at the copier when she noticed the commotion. She walked over to see what was going on.
“What’s happening here?”
“Amelia, this gentleman doesn’t have an appointment. He insists on seeing Mr. Moore inmediately,” a flustered

assistant explained.
By then, front desk staff had arrived with corporate security.

The man shoved an assistant aside. ” need to see Mr. Moore now. It’s about his wife–something serious. If you delay this, none of you will want to deal with what comes next.”
The man looked to be in his early twenties. He had sharp features, tan skin, and wore a fitted black suit that didn’t hide his athletic, broad–shouldered build.
It was obvious he trained regularly.
Even a few security guys together were struggling to restrain him, let alone the office staff.
“Xavier!” the man shouted toward the conference room doors.
“I’m Mr. Moore’s executive assistant. He’s in a meeting at the moment. May I ask who you are?”
Amelia stepped forward, her tone polite but firm.
The man shot her a frustrated look. “Did you not hear what I just said? Get Xavier out here now. He needs to go.”
“And how do I know this isn’t some stunt?” Amelia offered a slight, cautious smile. “If you explain the situation clearly, I’ll make sure Mr. Moore gets the message as soon as he’s available.”
“There’s no time for this!” Reluctantly, the man pulled out his ID and held it up. “I’m with Moore family security. Ms. Moore sent me.”
Amelia’s eyes narrowed as she inspected the card.
He was from the specialized protective detail. His name was John Dixon.
