Chapter 174 Offering the Formula

Chapter 174 Offering the Formula

Even so, Isabella hadn’t hesitated to go into the OR to save Noah’s life.

Xavier hadn’t been wrong about her.

“That’s really considerate of you, Dr. Ashford.” Isabella wasn’t sure how else to thank Harry.

She had expected a lot of questions from him, but he didn’t seem interested in pressing her.

“Can I ask… why Noah took such a sudden turn for the worse?”

Lately, Noah had been stable. This kind of crash didn’t fit the normal progression of his illness.

It felt more like… a dosing error, or maybe his meds had been cut back without notice.

“We can’t reach Dr. Hale.”

Harry let out a tired sigh and explained everything.

He’d been tied up in meetings all day and had left Noah’s care entirely in Rachel’s hands.

Not long after she’d administered a medication she prepared herself, Noah’s stats plummeted. Harry sent people to find her immediately, but she was nowhere in the hospital-her phone went straight to voicemail.

Rachel had vanished.

Isabella’s stomach dropped.

She gripped the bedsheet with her uninjured hand, angry at herself for trusting someone so carelessly.

Rachel had stayed by Noah’s side for the paycheck, sure, and she’d been consistent with his routine care…

Isabella had assumed she wouldn’t dare risk a patient’s life.

Clearly, she’d been naive.

There had to be another reason this woman got close to Noah-maybe something aimed at Xavier himself

“Looks like Aletta was a fraud after all,” Harry said, his tone heavy.

“She wasn’t the real Aletta,” Isabella heard herself say before she could stop.

Her reply caught Harry off guard. He studied her, his gaze sharpening.

“I mean… Dr. Hale has been here a while without making real progress. Maybe they hired the wrong person,” Isabella added quickly.

“Besides, she disappears and Noah ends up fighting for his life-what kind of reputable specialist does that?”

Harry gave a slow nod. “You’re right. We were probably scammed.

“But I’ll give her this-she covered her tracks well. She knew Noah’s case inside and out. Sometimes her treatment notes were even

more forward-thinking than my own conservative plans.”

Of course they were.

isabella had only allowed Rachel to stay because she could tell the woman actually knew her medicine.

“Dr. Ashford, actually… I have a formula that might help Noah.”

Isabella asked Harry to hand her phone over.

She’d given Rachel a draft prescription earlier-she didn’t know if Rachel had ever used it-but it was still saved there.

Harry looked it over, thoughtful. “This combination is… unconventional. Pretty aggressive, too.”

“Every patient is different. Noah’s constitution can actually handle this kind of adjustment. If we’d tried something like this

sooner…”

Isabella trailed off, a wave of regret washing over her.

If she hadn’t left back then, Noah might already be on his feet.

What a waste.

Noah had missed the optimal treatment window. Now they were just buying time.

Even with her own specialized medication, he’d still need surgery-with about a sixty percent chance of success.

The real problem was… that medication required some hard-to-source ingredients.

“You know…” Harry set the phone down and hesitated. “Ms. Carter, if you were willing to step in, Noah’s odds would improve. A lot.”

Isabella stayed quiet. Harry smiled faintly.

“Not that I’d expect it. Xavier probably wouldn’t want to let you out of his sight anyway.

“Get some rest, Ms. Carter.”

After Harry left, Isabella asked a nurse to remove her IV. With her arm in a sling, she made her way to Xavier’s room.

Outside his door stood a group of men-the same ones who’d gone with Xavier to Moore Manor to get her.

Seeing all these tall, broad-shouldered guys in suits and dark sunglasses gathered in a hospital hallway had thrown Isabella off earlier.

It felt like something out of a crime thriller.

Xavier usually carried himself like a polished executive-he rarely even traveled with visible security. Honestly, Isabella had never seen him make such a… commanding entrance before.

“Good evening, Mrs. Moore!”
