Stanley managed a thin smile. “All I want is to see my great-grandson. Is that really too much to ask?”

“After what happened last time, you scared Jason. As his mother, I can’t allow another visit right now!”

Her tone was steady and left no room for argument. Stanley’s smile faded.

“You may have, but a child shouldn’t be consuming something this rich. It isn’t healthy.”

Stanley’s tone carried a note of concern as he tapped his fork lightly against a few of the other dishes.

“And these are all far too heavily seasoned as well.”

Stanley set his fork down with a decisive click, and the room fell into a thick silence.

The maid looked toward Isabella, unsure. Isabella met her gaze with a subtle, reassuring look before dabbing her own lips with her napkin.

“You needn’t worry about that, sir. Jason’s meals are prepared separately, following a meal plan designed by a certified nutritionist. There’s no issue there.”

Her words were softly spoken, yet firm.
