“Linda, what the hell is going on? Who is this woman?” Ray finally snapped out of it.
He and Megan were completely lost.

“Isabella? Weren’t you dead?” Teresa’s voice cut through the confusion, her composure quickly returning. “So it was faked? What game are you playing?”
Isabella had ruined the engagement that Moore Group was supposed to have with the Allen family. Stanley had always despised her for it–so much so that he’d ordered the entire Moore family to shut her out.
Teresa remembered that a month into the marriage, Stanley had pressured Xavier to get a divorce, but nothing came of it. Then, five years ago, Isabella died.
Teresa’s words clicked into place for everyone.
The woman standing there was Xavier’s late wife, the one who’d been dead for five years.
Stanley’s face shifted when he saw the cane connect with Xavier’s arm. “Get out of the way.”
‘She’s my wife.” Xavier’s voice was low. He kept his head down, not looking at Stanley–almost like he was backing down. But every word came out hard. Unquestionable. “I’ll handle it myself.”
His wife?
sabella blinked, about to say something–but Xavier pulled her into his side, like he was marking territory.
‘Haven’t you suffered enough because of her?” Stanley’s breathing grew heavy. “Dead or alive, I’m not letting her be with you.”
Ray had reached his limit. “Miss, whoever you are, this is the Allen family event. You weren’t invited. I’m going to have to ask you to eave.”
sabella’s expression turned mocking. Ray’s reaction made sense. But Stanley’s rage? She didn’t get it.
She’d never been his favorite, sure–but attacking her on sight was something else.
And the way he was talking, it was like she’d done something terrible to Xavier.
Jone something to him? I’m the one who got hurt here.
‘Relax. I came to say a few things, and then I’m gone,” Isabella shot back at Ray, then tried to push Xavier off. But his grip on her shoulder didn’t budge.
He gave her a look–cold, sharp, warning her.
She couldn’t fight him. So she smiled instead and raised her left hand for everyone to see. The diamond on her ring finger caught the light.
“Stanley. Teresa. The Allen family” Her voice rang clear. “I’m right there with you I’d love to see Linda and Xavier together.
“But here’s the thing. Xavier can’t exactly get engaged while he’s still married. Maybe instead of an engagement party, you should help him get a divorce?”

The room erupted.
Five years, and they were still married?
Even Teresa looked mildly amused.
Wilson saw Stanley’s breathing grow ragged. “Godfather, take it easy.”
Ray and Megan pulled Linda aside. “He’s not divorced? You didn’t think to mention that?”
inda couldn’t take it. She shoved them off and ran upstairs.
Stanley took a long breath. “Is what she said true?”
Everyone waited for Xavier’s answer.
Jacob held his breath.
The Allen family is one thing, but the Moore family is putting on serious pressure. Hope he can handle it.
He shot isabella a helpless look. The old Isabella would never have put Xavier in a spot like this.
(avier looked cold, like he didn’t care about anyone.
But he’d always respected his elders–especially after Tanner died. He’d never talked back to Stanley–until tonight, for the first ime.
‘Yes,” he said, ice–cold.
Stanley’s body trembled. Wilson steadied him. Ray called for a chair, even reached for his phone to call an ambulance–but Stanley vaved him off.
I’m not dead yet.” Stanley sat down in the chair.
Teresa handed him water. “Dad, drink something.”
Then she turned to Xavier. “Your father’s gone, and you’ve forgotten all your manners. Get over here.”
Cavier’s face was stone. He saw Stanley struggling and shot Isabella one more look. “You think this gets you a divorce?”
de didn’t wait for an answer, but walked toward Stanley.
sabella watched him go and the way he bent slightly, the deference in his posture…
He looks.. lonely. No matter how much he accomplished, I never once saw him look genumely happy in that family
Just as everyone gathered around Stanley, Isabella stepped forward, the crowd parted, and Stanley saw that isabella’s face was
flushed.
Before he could speak, Isabella slid the ring off her finger and let it drop
It rolled to a stop at Xavier’s feet.
She smiled coldly at Stanley, “Sorry to intrude. But everyone here saw it. I’m not the one clinging to the Moore family it’s your 2/3
