Chapter 79 Rachel’s Cooperation
During the meal, Xavier’s phone kept buzzing in his pocket.

When he saw it was an unknown number, he tossed the phone straight to Jacob. Jacob answered it, and his expression shifted almost at once.
“It’s Ms. Allen, Jacob murmured quietly to Xavier. “She says she’s right outside the private dining room and has something urgent she needs to talk over with you and Ms. Hale.”
Xavier glanced calmly in Rachel’s direction.
Rachel took a small sip of the fruit juice beside her plate and met Xavier’s gaze steadily. “Is something wrong, Mr. Moore?”
“Do you know Linda?”
Xavier didn’t beat around the bush; he asked the question directly.
His tone was icy cold, and it made Harry, who had been eating quietly with his head down, jump nervously in his seat.
Harry lifted his head to look at the two of them and set his silverware down softly.
“Oh, Ms. Allen,” Rachel nodded, her face completely calm and natural. “Noah’s condition requires a new specialized medication, and the details of that drug are highly confidential. I’ve been reaching out to several pharmaceutical companies lately, and Ms. Allen happened to contact me about it.”
The Allen family ran a well–known pharmaceutical business, and their production facilities had a solid reputation across the industry.
Rachel’s explanation made Harry hold his breath anxiously.
He felt as if he’d eaten too quickly and had a tight knot in his chest.
The private room fell into a heavy, dead silence.
Jacob stood waiting for Xavier’s orders, but the man’s expression only grew darker and more intense.
After a long moment, Xavier spoke in a cold, flat tone. “Linda was a senior employee at my company until recently.”
“Is that so?” Rachel said, as if finally putting the pieces together. “Then… might this be an uncomfortable situation for you?”

Navier stared at Rachel for several long seconds before giving Jacob a sharp, silent signal.
Jacob stepped out of the room at once and led inda inside a moment later.
When Linda saw Xavier, she offered him a faint, gentle smile, but the man didn’t glance at her at all.
“If this is about Noah’s treatment, there’s no inconvenience.”
Xavier spoke only to Rachel, leaving Linda standing there stiff and awkward on the side.
Rachel was the one who stood up and held out her hand to greet Linda, smoothly easing the uncomfortable tension in the room.
After they exchanged a few polite words, Linda took the empty seat next to Rachel.
Linda greeted Harry, who quickly replied with an awkward, tight smile, unsure of what else
to say.
Then Linda turned toward Xavier again. “Xavier my family’s pharmaceutical plant might not be the largest in the industry, but it can definitely provide Ms. Hale with a lot of special access and resources… That’s why I came here on my own today.”
Xavier held out a hand, and Jacob immediately handed him a napkin.
He dabbed lightly at the corner of his mouth, his eyes fixed on the cloth in his hand. “The person you should be making your pitch to is M. Hale.”
Linda’s obvious enthusiasm immediately deflated. She forced a weak smile. “I know. I just didn’t want to overstep or upset you, so I thought I’d speak with you first. If you weren’t okay with it, I didn’t want to impose.”
“I’m not okay with it,” Xavier said, his words sharp and unforgiving, “and yet you showed up uninvited anyway.”
His cold, cutting words left Linda completely unable to save face.
Harry felt like even drinking water was making him choke.
He set down his glass, his eyes darting around uncertainly.
If he had known that a simple meal would turn into this kind of messy romantic drama, he would never have come along for a free meal today.
Linda’s face flushed, and her eyes instantly glistened with tears.
She made to stand up, but Rachel gently held her back.

Chapter 79 Rachel’s Cooperation
“Mr. Moore, actually, I think the Allen family’s facility is a pretty good option.”
“Ms Hale, you can decide.”
As soon as Rachel finished speaking, Xavier crumpled the napkin into a ball and tossed it
aside on the table.
“I have matters to attend to at the office. Excuse me.”
With that, Xavier stood up and left the table.
Jacob had not expected things to take this turn and hurried after him.
“Harry, take good care of our guests for me.”
Harry’s heart sank. As Xavier left, he grabbed his coat to follow, but the man tossed back that remark…
Under Rachel’s gaze, Harry smiled, put his coat back on, and returned to his seat.
“The air conditioning feels a bit chilly.”
After Xavier left the private room, Linda also stood up abruptly, but after a moment, she slowly sat back down.
“Mr. Moore is certainly a busy man. It is just as well he left–otherwise, I would have been too embarrassed to eat so much of this delicious food.”
Rachel lightened the mood with a smile, and the awkward atmosphere passed as everyone exchanged glances.
After the meal ended, Harry quickly excused himself to take a phone call and returned to the hospital first.
Linda drove Rachel home.
On the way, Rachel comfortably finished touching up her lipstick in the passenger seat, then offered Linda a mint.
“I do not eat candy, thank you,” Linda said softly turning on the music.
Rachel popped the mint into her own mouth and smiled. “Ms. Allen, you really do like Mr. Moore, don’t you? Seeing you humble yourself like this breaks my heart.”
“Is that not what liking someone is about?” Lindas smile was stiff.
The night before, Quill had called and told her to contact the renowned doctor Aletta under

the guise of her family’s facility, claiming it would give her another chance to stay by Xavier’s
side.
But Linda did not see it that way.
She was the one who had provided the lead on Aletta, yet these past few days, Xavier had not acknowledged her at all, completely ignoring her attempts to reach out.
That was why she had come to see Xavier today, swallowing her pride to ask for his forgiveness.
But Xavier still had not even looked at her.
