Chapter 205
Lucien’s POV:
Rain hammered down on my face.

I was kneeling in the muddy dirt at the edge of the cliff, clutching that silver–gray high heel like my life depended on it.
The heel was smeared with red mud–I knew it was from the rose garden soil.
The shoe size was 35.5. I remembered that number like it was burned into my brain.
It was Norah’s shoe.
She’d run out without even putting her shoes on properly.
My chest felt like it was being crushed by an iron grip, making it hard to breathe.
Rainwater streamed down my hair, dripping into my mouth–salty and bitter.
“Norah…”
I shouted her name, but the wind and rain swallowed my voice.
Right then, my phone buzzed.
A bad feeling hit me like a punch to the gut.
I pulled out my phone. The screen showed an unknown number, no clue where it was from.
I stared at the number for two seconds, then answered.
I didn’t say a word first.
Static crackled through the line, then heavy, slow breathing.
Then a distorted voice came through, pitch twisted so I couldn’t tell if it was a man or a woman:
“Mr. Constantine.”
The voice sounded way too happy.
“Your little woman is in my hands now. Guess what she boks like? Poor thing–like a butterfly soaked in a storm.”
I gripped the phone tighter, forcing myself to stay calm my voice flat and emotionless: “What do you want? Money? Name your price.”
“Money? Ha…” The voice let out a harsh laugh. “Mr. Constantine, do you really think money can buy everything? I don’t want your cash. I want you to come with her.”
“Where is she?”
“I bet you’re dying to hear her voice, huh?” The voice paused, like it was savoring my pain. “Too bad, she seems to have fallen asleep.”

“What did you do to her?!” I lost it, yelling.

“Touch her hair and I swear, you and everyone behind you will vanish from this world”
“Ha ha ha, I’m so scared.” The laughter on the other end went crazier. “Then come see if you can pull it off Come alone to the old lighthouse.”
“Remember, alone. I don’t have patience. If you’re even one minute late after ten minutes, I’ll carve a line across her pretty face. And if I see cops… or your goons…
The voice cut off, then let out a laugh like rusty metal scraping against metal.
“You’re about to get a corpse soaked rotten by seawater.
The call ended.
spun around and dashed back to the villa.
I’d just stepped through the front door, dripping wet, when Irina rushed over to me.
“Lucien! Where the hell did you run off to?!” Her voice cracked with tears. “The beach patrol just radioed security–they found one of Norah’s shoes on the rocks below the cliff! They think… they think she might have fallen! The wind and waves are crazy right now, no way anyone can get down there to rescue her!”
Beach patrol?
Notifying security?
Too damn convenient.
So convenient it felt like a setup.
“What did you say? Are you sure it’s Norah’s shoe?”
“The silver stiletto ones,” Irina’s tears started falling. “What do we do, Lucien? It’s pouring rain, the waves are huge…”
“Calm down.” I let go of her and turned to the head of security. “Lock down every entrance and exit of the estate. No one in, no one out.”
“Contact the Coast Guard. Tell them my fiancée, Norah sea during the storm. They need to send a search party

“Also, get everyone on the estate who can help to comb the cliff and shoreline, especially around the rocks
where the shoe was found.”
I paused, scanning the faces in the hall, including the fe servants who kept their heads down and said nothing.
“Listen up. The most important thing right now is to fit her. I want everyone moving on this, got it?”
“Yes, sir!” the captain shouted back, turning to give orders.

“Wait,” I called him back, adding, “Get the media ready. If necessary, I don’t mind this hitting the front page of every European paper tomorrow. The future lady of the Constantine family is missing–that’s not small news.”
“Yes, sir!”
The captain and his team charged into the rain.
Only then did I turn back to Irina, who looked pale as a ghost.
“What about Katarina?” I asked.
“She’s trying to dig up some info…” Irina wiped her tear and whispered, “Lucien, do you really think Norah fell-”
“Go do what you need to do.” I cut her off before she could finish. “Keep the studio folks calm, especially Mrs. Clément and Mrs. Medici. Don’t scare them yet. Also, get in touch with our friend in Washington. Ask if he’s heard anything unusual lately.”
I put extra emphasis on “friend.”
Irina froze for a second, then got the message loud and clear–Mateo.
She gave me a look full of mixed feelings, nodded once and didn’t ask anything else before turning and walking away quickly.
After everyone else left, I headed straight back to my room.
I pulled a silver case out of the safe inside my
closet.
Inside were just a few things: a P226 pistol, two extra magazines, a tracker, and a signal transmitter about the size of a matchbox.
Over the past three years, I’d imagined a million times what it’d be like to see Norah again.
I pictured her hating me, forgetting me, or having someone else by her side.
For every scenario, I had a plan ready.
But the worst case-
That she’d get hurt because of me.
So, I set up some special backup measures.
I checked the pistol, loaded the bullets, and attached the silencer.
I slipped the tracker and the satellite transmitter into the inner pocket.
Then I grabbed my phone and shot a message to my assistant:
[Track my location. Don’t get close. If you don’t hear from me in two hours, contact Mateo Vegal
