Chapter 204
Norah’s POV:
I stared at him, at those eyes that used to mesmerize me but now filled me with fear.
There was no love in them, no warmth–just a twisted absession to control everything and a kind of madness.
“Let go of me.”
“Tell me the truth.” His grip tightened. “Those two kids”
“I said let go!”
I pushed with all my strength.
Caught off guard, he stumbled back half a step and crashed into the low cabinet beside him.

The vase on top wobbled, then smashed to the floor with a loud crash. Shards of porcelain and cold water splattered everywhere.
“Truth?” I laughed, a sharp, piercing sound laced with nadness. “Lucien, what truth do you wanna know? Whether I secretly had kids with someone else? Whether I’m some shameless slut?”
“Norah-”
“I’m pushing a stroller, and you just assume the kids inside are mine? You think I betrayed you?”
He froze, the madness in his eyes flickering with doubt.
I didn’t let up. I poured out every bit of the hurt, anger, and pain from the last three years, shouting it all out: “You think the whole damn world revolves around you?! You think after I left, I’d just live in memories and cry every day?! I have my own life. I have friends who actually want to help me. Her husband’s out of town, so I watch her kids for a few days–what’s wrong with that?!”
I stepped closer, locking eyes with him. “Or is it that in your precious Mr. Constantine’s world, I, Norah Hawthorne, am not allowed to have any relationships besides you? That I have to be your accessory, waiting around for you to remember me and throw me some plly?”
“That’s not what I meant-”
“Then what the hell do you mean?!” I yelled. “Lucien, you’re always like this! Always so damn self–righteous. Three years ago, you didn’t trust me. And three years later, you still don’t! You see a blurry photo and immediately decide I betrayed you!”
I pointed at the tablet in his hand, my finger shaking. ” check! Aren’t you so damn capable? Use your intel network–look up the mall’s surveillance from that day, check the mother–baby room records, find my friend’s address, knock on her door, see those twins with your own eyes, see if they even look like me!”
I was betting he wouldn’t find a thing.
Because the kids in that photo weren’t Leo and Lama–ey were the twins of another mom I met when I gave birth in Washington.

Chapter 204
Because we both had twins, we naturally became good friends.
And Matco wouldn’t leave behind such a dumb slip–up.
But what I was really betting on was that tiny bit of guilt he might still have left for me.
Lucien’s face slowly drained of color.

He opened his mouth, like he wanted to say something, but in the end, he just muttered a few words in a low voice: “…I’m sorry.”
“Sorry?” I repeated the word, my voice sharp. “Lucien, how much do your sorrys even mean? You think just saying ‘sorry‘ means I have to forgive you? You keep saying sorry over and over, but you keep hurting me again and again. Lucien, I’m fucking exhausted.”
He froze completely.
“Our relationship…” I took a deep breath, using every last bit of strength I had, “ended for good three years ago, the moment you went ahead and married Amélie for that ridiculous sense of duty.”
I said no more and didn’t look at him again.
I turned and stormed out of the room.
“Norah!” he called after me, panic bleeding into his voice.
I didn’t look back.
I ran out of the villa and into the garden.
Somehow, it had started pouring outside. The salty, wet sea breeze mixed with the rain, slapping my face hard.
Lightning cracked, thunder roared, and the sky was so black it felt like it might collapse.
The cold rain soaked through my dress in seconds, clinging to my skin, making me shiver.
My hair was drenched, stuck to my face, blurring my vision.
I couldn’t tell if the wetness on my cheeks was rain or tears–I just knew I had to run, had to get away from this place, away from him!
“Norah! Come back! It’s dangerous out here!” Lucien’s voice sounded distant through the storm, barely audible.
I glanced back once,
He’d caught up to the villa’s front door. I twisted away and kept running toward the edge of the garden.
Somehow, my shoes had come off. The gravel stabbed into my bare feet, sharp and painful.
Rose thorns scraped my calves, burning like fire.
But I didn’t care about any of it. I didn’t even know where I was going.

The estate was huge, like a fancy prison.
I just wanted to get as far away from him as possible.

The rain kept coming down harder, the wind whipped up the sea waves, crashing against the cliffs in the distance.
Before I knew it, I’d run past the neat garden and onto a patch of muddy ground overgrown with weeds.
Far off, a lonely, abandoned lighthouse stood on the cliff battered by the wild storm.
The lighthouse…
It was like I’d found a target. I pushed myself harder and ran straight for it.
I shoved open the rusty iron gate that was hanging half off its hinges, and a wave of damp, moldy air hit me, mixed with the sharp smell of salt and rust.
Inside was pitch black, with only a tiny, narrow window high up letting in a faint sliver of daylight.
The basement was empty except for some rotten wooden crates and useless ropes piled up in the corner.
I leaned against the cold, damp brick wall and slid down to sit on the floor.
Finally, I was safe.
He wasn’t here.
Outside, the storm was pounding so hard it hurt my ears–thunder crashing nonstop. But inside, it was eerily quiet.
After another thunderclap exploded, the tension I’d been holding onto snapped all at once.
“Ugh…”
I hugged my knees tight and buried my face in them, finally letting myself cry out loud.
I cried hard, heartbroken.
All the fear, all the pain, all the hopelessness spilled out with my tears.
“I’m sorry… Leo… Luna…” I whispered, my voice breaking into pieces. “Mom’s useless… Mom probably… can’t keep you safe anymore…”
