Over in the dining hall Elsie gave Lilian a teasing nudge. “I didn’t think you had it in you Lilian. You really went all out. Was this because of what I said the other day?”

Lilian smiled, looking completely unbothered. “Well you did say women should be more proactive. I just decided to see if the theory worked. What do you think? Pretty effective right?”

Isabelle laughed. “Effective? You have no idea. We were in shock when we saw you on TV. That last line you gave Sebastian was so sweet it was almost sickening.”

Elsie grinned. “I guess a genius is always a genius. Trust you to take applying what you learn this literally. I finally get why your grades are so good. You’re all about the results and clearly it paid off.”

“No kidding” Isabelle chimed in. “The way you and Sebastian blindsided everyone was legendary. Those fireworks had every girl in the city losing their minds.”

Lilian bit her fork, giving them a playful glare. “Since the results were so good you two should probably get on that. Just follow my lead.”

“Please” Elsie huffed. “Who can afford to pull that off? It’s not just about the money. You’re a CEO and your fiancé is Sebastian. Without that no one is putting us on the news.”

“Exactly” Isabelle agreed. “The rest of us just have to sit here and be bitter.”

Lilian laughed. “Alright. Next time I’ll test out something low key and practical for you guys. If it works you can take the blueprint and adapt it however you want.”

Elsie raised an eyebrow. “Lilian if you so much as smile at Sebastian he’s obsessed. If I try that with Cameron he’ll ask if I missed a dose of my meds. How am I supposed to adapt that?”

Lilian burst out laughing and Isabelle actually choked on her drink.

“Fair point. You have to know who you’re dealing with. Cameron is such a clown that anything you try just ends up being a joke to him.”

Lilian looked at Elsie still laughing. “You’re right. Cameron is a special case. He’ll either make you die of laughter or drive you insane.”

Elsie sighed. “Anyway back to reality. I need to figure out how I’m going to survive finals.”

Inside the chairman’s office at Empire Group Sebastian was buried in paperwork. He looked sharp with his sleeves rolled up as the sun hit the lines of his face.

Foster stood by waiting for orders. The room was silent except for the scratching of a pen.

Suddenly his phone rang. Sebastian frowned at the screen not recognizing the number. He picked up but before he could say a word a panicked voice cut him off.

“Sebastian it’s your grandfather. Something happened. Get to Kingston Hospital now.”
