Rewrite Her Thrilling Life (Lillian and Sebastian) novel Chapter 1145

Sebastian wiped the trace of blood from the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand, brushed off Foster's supportive grip, and stood tall. Looking directly at Merrick, he said flatly, "Where is Lilian? I need to see her, even if she's just a corpse."

Merrick looked at the sheer obsession burning in the man's eyes and let out a heavy sigh. "Fine. Since you insist on seeing her, let's go." He turned to the head butler and ordered, "Get the car ready."

The group piled into the vehicle, driving through the estate until they finally entered a secluded private cemetery.

The grounds were lush and meticulously landscaped, a clear sign that someone tended to them regularly. Yet walking past row after row of tombstones still cast an inevitable, chilling pall over the atmosphere. Following Merrick's lead, the group walked down a quiet path until they stopped right in front of a fresh grave.

The moment his eyes caught the photograph etched onto the headstone, Sebastian's face drained of all color, and Unno stood beside him, completely frozen in horror.

"This is the private burial ground for the Philips family," Merrick said, his voice dropping into a low, somber register. "I set up a memorial here for Catherine, and I buried Lilian right beside her. I thought it might give mother and daughter some companionship in the afterlife. Besides, Catherine was always the deepest source of comfort in Lilian's heart. Being here will bring her peace."

"No, I don't believe it," Sebastian stammered, shaking his head in absolute denial. "I don't believe any of this. You're all lying to me, aren't you?"

Eric's voice remained clinical and detached. "If you don't believe us, feel free to dig up the grave and run a DNA test on the ashes inside. The evidence is right in front of you. If you still refuse to accept it, there's nothing more we can say to convince you."

"Ashes?" Sebastian barked, his voice raw. "Why would there be ashes instead of a body?"

Eric let out a bitter, cold laugh. "Do you honestly think Lilian would want to let herself slowly rot away? This was all her choice. She didn't want you to see her in a broken, unsightly state. She only wanted you to remember her as she always was at her absolute most beautiful."
