Chapter 126: Spring

A wave of relief escaped Natalie’s lips as she spotted the group approaching. With a bright smile, she exclaimed, “Thank God you’re here! Those jerks were harassing that girl and even tried to grab us.” Her voice carried both gratitude and frustration.

Ethan and Carson stepped forward, their expressions calm but alert. Ethan’s tone was steady as he addressed the men, “I want to know exactly how my sister offended you.”

The man glared at them with a dark, menacing look. “Mind your own business. That woman hurt one of our guys, and now she’s coming with us—end of story.”

Ethan didn’t flinch. He shrugged off his jacket and handed it to Jill. “I’d really like to see what you mean by ‘hurt.’”

The man sneered, lips curling into a cruel smile. “Fine. You asked for it. But don’t blame us for what happens next. Grab that bitch.”

His crew lunged forward, and a brief, tense scuffle erupted. The small crowd gathered around them watched silently, holding their breath.

Lilian’s eyes flicked toward the girl Natalie had been shielding. She appeared to be around sixteen or seventeen—delicate, almost heartbreakingly beautiful. Yet beneath that fragile exterior, there was a sharpness in her gaze, a hidden edge that suggested she was far from innocent.

Noticing Lilian’s stare, the girl—Spring—quickly dropped her eyes and adopted a timid, helpless expression.

Lilian let out a quiet, cold laugh inside. Quite the little actress, she thought.

Both Ethan and Carson had been trained from a young age. It didn’t take long for them to overpower the men.

The leader of the group gritted his teeth, struggling to stand. His face twisted with pain as he spat out, “This isn’t over.” He shot one last venomous glare at Spring before turning and retreating with his men.

As the tension eased, Spring stepped out from behind Natalie. Her voice was soft and sweet as she said, “Thank you so much. I don’t know what I would’ve done if you hadn’t stepped in.” Tears shimmered in her eyes, betraying her fragile act.

Ethan rubbed his sore arm, offering a casual smile. “Don’t mention it. But what exactly did they mean when they said you hurt their friend?”

Spring looked flustered, biting her lip. “They tried to grab me, and I accidentally hurt one of them while trying to get away. Then they chased me here.”

Ethan studied her for a moment, then replied coolly, “Well, it’s over now. Let’s get going.”

He had no intention of digging deeper into her story—it wasn’t his concern. If it hadn’t been for Natalie and Luna, he wouldn’t have intervened at all.

The group began to leave, and Spring quickly followed them out of the bar.

Carson gathered Joy and Nancy and left in his own car.

Lilian shot a sharp glance at the girl trailing behind them. “Is there something else you need, Miss?”

She had been suspicious of Spring from the start. Natalie and Luna were the ones who had helped her, yet all the gratitude seemed directed at Ethan. That alone set off alarm bells.

Spring’s voice was soft as she replied, “I’m not trying to cause trouble. I was just scared, so I thought I’d stay close to you.” She even stole a quick glance at Ethan as she spoke.

Natalie smiled reassuringly. “Don’t worry, they’re gone now. My brother scared them off. You’re safe.”
