Chapter 174: Hans’ Threat
Hans approached confidently from the lounge, a small entourage of staff trailing closely behind her. The atmosphere shifted instantly as she neared, the air thick with tension.
Wayne raised an eyebrow, his expression polite but cautious. “Hello. Can I assist you with something today?”
Hans’s assistant straightened up, radiating a sharp arrogance. “Ms. Karina, our Hans is here specifically to discuss the new Skyreach Group drama with you.”
Karina’s face remained impassive, her tone cool and measured. “I don’t recall Ms. Hans being cast in this project.”
A shadow crossed Hans’s features. As one of the industry’s leading stars, she was accustomed to deference and respect. Yet she forced a smile, carefully masking her irritation. “Precisely why I came to speak with you personally. Might you have some time now?”
Wayne’s voice stayed courteous but firm. “I’m sorry, Ms. Hans, but all roles in our productions are finalized well in advance. There won’t be any changes.”
This was Skyreach Group’s unyielding policy. Every principal actor was handpicked and confirmed by Lillian long before filming began. Last-minute additions were simply not entertained.
Hans hadn’t anticipated such a blunt rejection. She had arrived precisely because Skyreach’s dramas had dominated the ratings over the past year. Usually, at her level, producers and directors begged for her involvement—not the other way around.
Her assistant’s tone sharpened, laced with a barely concealed threat. “Ms. Karina, you should reconsider. Bringing our Hans onboard would guarantee massive exposure. It would be wise to think carefully before declining.”
Lillian’s lips curled into a mocking smile. “How fascinating. I never imagined a mere assistant would dare threaten the general manager of Skyreach Group. Pray tell, where did you find such audacity?”
The assistant sneered, pride flashing in her eyes. “Hmph. Hans is showing you respect by coming here herself. Are you even aware of her current fame and market value? Companies are lining up to have her star in their projects.”
Since Hans’s rapid rise to stardom, her assistant had grown increasingly insolent, convinced that their newfound status entitled them to any role. Yet, to their shock, Skyreach remained unmoved.
Hans flipped her hair back with a regal flick, standing silently as if her very presence should be enough to command compliance.
