Chapter 180: Triny’s Obsession

On the journey home

Morten cast a serious gaze toward his granddaughter. “Triny, be honest with me—do you have feelings for that boy, Sebastian?”

A sudden blush colored Triny’s cheeks, and she nodded shyly. “Yes, Grandpa. From the very first moment I saw him, I couldn’t help but fall in love.”

Morten’s heart tightened as he recognized that familiar look in her eyes—the exact same expression his daughter had worn when she first encountered Sebastian’s father years ago. A heavy sigh escaped him, laden with memories and unspoken worries.

“Are you absolutely certain about this? That boy is far from ordinary. Back then, he willingly gave up a title that was practically his by birthright—the chance to inherit the Austine family’s peerage. Instead, he chose to seize control of Murica’s economy. Over the last two years, his Empire Group has grown into a terrifying force across Dracovia. That alone speaks volumes about how ruthless and calculating he can be. Do you truly believe a man like that would ever fall in love with you?”

With every word Morten spoke, Triny’s infatuation only deepened. Yet when he finished, it felt as if a sudden chill had drenched her hopes. After all, Sebastian had never even glanced her way. How could she expect him to love her? Still, her feelings had already taken root too deeply to let go.

Watching his granddaughter’s conflicted expression, Morten sighed in resignation. “I hope you’ll reconsider. He’s not someone an inexperienced girl like you can ever control.”

“No. I won’t give up on him,” Triny declared with fierce determination. “Even if he doesn’t love me now, that doesn’t matter. As long as I have him by my side, I’m content. And I believe that once he truly understands me, he will fall in love with me for sure.”

She was utterly convinced of her own worth and charm. If only Sebastian would take the time to see her, she was certain he would be captivated.

Morten studied the stubborn spark in her eyes and finally relented. “Alright. If you’re set on this, then I’ll help you. I won’t let my granddaughter suffer the same heartbreak my daughter did when she was rejected by his father.”

A relieved smile blossomed on Triny’s face as she clung to Morten’s arm, leaning her head gently against his shoulder. “Thank you, Grandpa. You really are the best.” The promise of his support filled her with hope. Just imagining marrying Sebastian made her heart swell with sweetness.

Meanwhile, at the hospital—

Jared and Ruby had already departed.

Sebastian sat quietly beside the bed, his fingers absently tracing the thumb ring on his hand. A rare softness flickered in his eyes.

Mr. Whitmore rested against the bed, his voice frail. “That little Lindt girl seems to have feelings for you, and Morten looks happy to encourage it. What are you thinking about all this?”
