Chapter 181: The Lindt Family’s Schemes

Mr. Whitmore sat in his study, visibly shaken by the news Sebastian had just shared. Yet beneath the shock, a deep sense of relief and warmth settled in his chest. After all, the idea that his grandson had finally found someone special stirred emotions he hadn’t expected to feel.

His grandson, Sebastian, had always been distant when it came to women. Not even Elsa Fu, who had tried so persistently, managed to break through his walls. But now, hearing that Sebastian had genuine feelings for a girl, Mr. Whitmore felt a rare peace wash over him.

“I understand,” he said quietly, his voice steady but firm. “If the Lindt family brings this up again, I’ll refuse them outright. I won’t let history repeat itself.” He shuddered at the memory of past troubles and knew all too well the consequences of letting old wounds reopen.

Sebastian’s gaze sharpened, his eyes flashing with cold intensity. “Do you really think the Lindt family has been silent all these years? Their daughter married far away in Radovia, and their son left the country long ago. Do you honestly believe Morten felt nothing through all this? Grandpa, I’ve always thought the deadliest snakes hide the deepest.”

He paused, his voice lowering as he recalled bitter truths. If it hadn’t been for the Lindt daughter’s interference, his father would have come home. He wouldn’t have cut ties with the Whitmores so completely.

Mr. Whitmore nodded slowly, understanding the weight behind Sebastian’s words. The Lindts’ silence was suspicious—too quiet, like a dormant threat waiting to strike. “I’ll make sure they’re watched closely,” he promised. “We can’t afford to be caught off guard.”

“There’s no need for that,” Sebastian replied confidently. “They won’t leave any trace inside the country. Their children have been overseas for years. If there’s a plan, it’s being hatched abroad. Let me handle this. You just focus on getting better.”

Mr. Whitmore accepted the pill Sebastian handed him. The moment it touched his tongue, a rich, soothing medicinal aroma filled his mouth. It was unlike anything he’d experienced before.

Ten minutes later, the old man suddenly sprang out of bed, eyes wide with astonishment. For the past year, his limbs had felt weak and brittle, especially his legs and hands. But now, he felt an overwhelming surge of strength, as if he could climb mountains without breaking a sweat.

Even Sebastian was taken aback by the medicine’s effectiveness. Each time, the remedies provided by the little girl seemed more miraculous than the last. He felt as though they had uncovered a hidden treasure.

“Sebastian, this medicine your girlfriend gave me—it’s incredible. I feel like I’ve turned back the clock by twenty years,” Mr. Whitmore exclaimed, bouncing lightly on the spot to prove his point.

Sebastian allowed himself a rare smile, watching the old man’s renewed vigor with satisfaction.

“Come on, I don’t want to stay cooped up in this hospital any longer,” Mr. Whitmore said eagerly, already tugging at his clothes to get dressed.

Still cautious, Sebastian arranged for the doctors to run a full check-up. The hospital staff were amazed at how quickly his condition had improved. Once they confirmed everything was fine, Mr. Whitmore was discharged that very afternoon.

Back at the family estate, everyone was stunned by his sudden recovery. When questioned, Mr. Whitmore simply shrugged and said, “My spirits lifted, so naturally my body followed.”

Returning to Kingston, Sebastian headed straight to the Empire headquarters, where a mountain of work awaited him.

Meanwhile, in Solara—
