Rewrite Her Thrilling Life (Lillian and Sebastian) novel Chapter 215

Chapter 215: The Ambush

Lillian stood her ground fiercely, grappling with the six men clad in black who surrounded her. Her muscles burned with exertion as she parried and dodged, refusing to give an inch. Yet, in one fleeting moment of distraction, a brutal kick crashed into her abdomen, knocking the wind from her lungs.

As one attacker surged forward with ruthless speed, aiming a swift, merciless blow, a sudden flicker of blue light ignited at Lillian’s fingertips. She was just about to unleash it when a dark figure blurred past her, moving with lightning speed.

Startled, Lillian froze for a heartbeat, caught off guard by the unexpected arrival. But there was no time to hesitate—the battle shifted instantly. The momentum swung in their favor. Without missing a beat, she lunged back into the fray, renewed with fierce determination. Within moments, the six assailants lay defeated, sprawled across the grimy alley floor.

The man who had intervened stood silently, his expression cold and unreadable, his breath steady.

“Unno,” Lillian said, surprise threading her voice.

He inclined his head in a respectful nod. “Ms. Sinclair, the master sent me to protect you. He instructed me not to reveal myself unless absolutely necessary.” His tone was careful, measured—Unno understood better than anyone just how critical Lillian was to his master.

“Sebastian sent you,” she said softly, already knowing the answer but needing to hear it confirmed.

Unno gave a single, solemn nod. “Yes.”

Her eyes narrowed thoughtfully. “Do you know where Mr. Whitmore is now?”

“That is not information we subordinates are entitled to,” Unno replied, his voice steady and courteous.

Seeing that he would reveal nothing more, Lillian let the question drop. Instead, she crouched beside one of the fallen attackers and tugged at the edge of his clothing. Her breath caught as she saw something moving beneath his skin—slithering along his veins like a living shadow.

Shock flared in her eyes.

Blue’s voice echoed sharply in her mind: *It’s the beauty’s curse. Once the host dies, they claw their way out, desperate to find a new body to inhabit.*

Unno watched silently, stunned, as Lillian calmly drew a slender blade. Without hesitation, she sliced across her own wrist. Small, wriggling parasites spilled onto the ground, twisting and squirming.

Even as a seasoned warrior, Unno felt his stomach churn at the sight. But Lillian remained unflinching. She skewered one of the creatures cleanly on her blade and lifted it close, studying it with razor-sharp focus.
