Rewrite Her Thrilling Life (Lillian and Sebastian) novel Chapter 219

Chapter 219: Warmth

In that instant, the tears she had been desperately holding back finally spilled over, breaking through the fortress of strength she had painstakingly constructed. The walls she’d built around herself crumbled all at once, leaving her vulnerable and raw.

Sebastian immediately reached out, his fingers curling gently around her wrist, pulling her close until she was pressed firmly against his chest. A tender, almost indulgent smile played on his lips as he rested her head against him. One hand moved softly over her back in soothing pats, while the other brushed a gentle kiss into her hair.

The warmth of that embrace felt almost dreamlike, a quiet sanctuary amid the storm. “Take it easy, sweetheart,” he murmured softly. “Don’t cry. It hurts me more than you know when you do.”

Lillian didn’t know how long she let the tears flow, the release washing over her like a tide. Eventually, she lifted her head, her eyes still red and blotchy, and tried to summon a fierce glare. “I thought you were so capable,” she said, voice trembling but trying to sound stern. “How did you let yourself get caught off guard like that?”

Sebastian chuckled low and rough, the sound vibrating against her ear. “Don’t worry about me. I’m fine. It was all part of the plan—to draw them out. Just a small miscalculation. I’d never put myself in real danger… not when I can’t bear the thought of losing you.” He looked at her with such quiet intensity, as if she were the most precious thing in the world. There was no way he could ever leave her to face the world alone.

Sniffling, Lillian wiped her tears with the back of her hand, her voice softening. “You’re impossible. Do you even realize how close you came to dying? If something had really happened to you… I’d have to find a new boyfriend right away.”

Sebastian laughed helplessly, his thumb brushing away the lingering moisture at the corner of her eye. His tone was calm, steady, full of quiet confidence. “I knew you’d come for me.”

She huffed, a playful glare flashing in her eyes as she stood up and began inspecting his wounds. Most of the cuts and bruises were already starting to scab over, and only then did she finally allow herself to relax.

Just then, a small figure darted into the cave, paws light against the cool stone floor.

Sebastian turned toward the unexpected visitor, his eyes narrowing slightly at the sight of the creature—a little fox with snow-white fur and a tuft of fiery red atop its brow, brimming with energy. “And this little fox… belongs to whom exactly?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.

Sunny bristled at the comment, letting out a series of sharp, indignant chirps. Little fox? How dare he! Then, as if offended, the creature nipped gently at Lillian’s pant leg, whining pitifully as if begging for reassurance.

Lillian scooped Sunny into her arms, pressing her cheek affectionately against the creature’s soft head. “Alright, alright, don’t pout. You’re the hero this time—you were incredible.”

Sunny squealed with delight, the high-pitched chirps echoing joyfully through the cave.
