Rewrite Her Thrilling Life (Lillian and Sebastian) novel Chapter 31

Chapter 31: A Stirred Heart

Since her rebirth, Lilian had carefully buried her hatred deep within, striving to embrace happiness despite the shadows that lingered. Yet, no one could truly sense the ache she carried beneath her calm exterior. Each night, when silence enveloped the world, memories of her past played relentlessly in her mind like an unending film, haunting her with their vividness.

A sudden warmth resting on her shoulder jolted her from her thoughts. She spun around quickly, eyes landing on the suit jacket draped gently over her.

Standing just beyond the faint glow of the streetlight was a man whose strikingly handsome face seemed almost unreal, touched with a hint of playful mischief. His presence was cool and commanding, his deep eyes shimmering with a subtle, somber light.

“It’s the middle of the night. You should be heading home. Do you realize how dangerous it is out here at this hour?” His voice was low and firm, carrying a trace of anger mixed with something softer, more complex.

Lilian’s gaze softened, slightly unfocused as she studied him. Raising an eyebrow, she allowed a faint smile to curve her lips. “So it’s you. Out in the middle of the night too, huh?”

Sebastian frowned slightly, sniffing the air. “You smell like you’ve been drinking.”

Her eyes sparkled under the moonlight, a lazy gleam dancing within them. “Yeah, I was having a good time tonight. Maybe a little more wine than usual.”

Sebastian had been out on business and happened to spot her from his car. After his meeting wrapped up, he waited patiently. When Lilian finally emerged from the restaurant alone, her gray dress fluttering softly in the night breeze, something inside him stirred. Without hesitation, he stepped out of the car, removed his jacket, and carefully laid it over her delicate shoulders.

Taking her hand in his, Sebastian guided her toward the car. “Come on. It’s late, and it’s not safe for a woman to be wandering alone at this hour. Let me take you home.”

For reasons she couldn’t quite explain, Lilian trusted him completely. She let him hold her hand as she followed him to the car, where Foster had already opened the door. Once inside, Sebastian didn’t release her hand. When she gently tried to pull away, he tightened his grip ever so slightly.

“Stay still. Don’t move. Let me warm you up. You didn’t even bring a jacket. It’s not freezing yet, but the night air is chilly. What if you caught a cold?”
