Rewrite Her Thrilling Life (Lillian and Sebastian) novel Chapter 49

Lilian stepped out of her cultivation room, cradling Sunny gently in her arms. The little fox’s wide eyes sparkled with curiosity as he immediately scampered off, eager to investigate the strange new environment around him. The soft hum of the building and the faint scent of blooming flowers outside created a calm atmosphere, but Sunny’s energetic exploration brought a lively contrast to the quiet space.

Pulling out her phone, Lilian noticed several missed calls blinking on the screen. Among them were calls from Mr. Arron, Karina, and a few numbers she didn’t recognize. Just as she was about to return the calls later, Mr. Arron’s name popped up again, demanding her immediate attention.

She swiped to answer.

“Kid, did you really manage to cure that little girl from the Shanks family?” Mr. Arron’s voice came through, a mixture of surprise and amusement coloring his tone.

“I did,” Lilian replied evenly, her voice steady despite the weight of the news.

“No wonder the old man was so overjoyed when he called me,” Mr. Arron chuckled softly. “He said his granddaughter’s completely healed, and even his daughter-in-law is showing signs of improvement. They’re so thrilled, they’re planning a banquet to celebrate and invite all their friends to share the good news.”

He laughed again, a warm sound that carried a hint of irony. “And here I was wondering why Houston kept poking around, asking about your abilities. Turns out, he was fishing for information to help his own child.”

Lilian smiled quietly, a soft chuckle escaping her lips. “Yes, Mr. Houston did mention he reached out to you. I didn’t think much of it at the time.”

“Well, I’m glad it worked out,” Mr. Arron said with a satisfied sigh. “That illness has haunted their family for more than ten years. Now the old man can finally breathe easy.”

Just as they were about to end the call, Lilian’s phone rang again. This time, it was Karina.

“Lilian, where have you been? I’ve been trying to get in touch with you forever,” Karina said, relief evident in her voice.

“I’m fine,” Lilian replied, moving toward the bar and pouring herself a glass of water. The cool liquid slid down her throat, easing the tension in her chest. “What’s going on? Is it urgent?”

“Well, yes and no,” Karina answered. “Remember when you asked me to keep an eye out for promising research institutions? Most of them are already well-established, and honestly, it’s tough to get in without powerful connections.”
