Next to him, Sharon’s trembling hand moved urgently toward her throat, then pointed accusingly at Lilian, who stood nearby with an unsettling calmness. Her silent gesture spoke volumes—blaming Lilian without uttering a single word.

Landon leaned closer to Gordon, whispering something that only the old man could hear. Yet Gordon’s expression remained unreadable, his voice cold and resolute as he said, “It doesn’t matter anymore.” Then, turning toward Sean, the man seated with a laptop, he continued, “Sean, I called you here today to update my will. The previous one is null and void.”

Sean swiftly opened his laptop, fingers poised to record the new directives. The others in the room fell into a heavy silence, sensing the finality in Gordon’s decision.

Killian’s eyes hardened as they locked onto Lilian, his gaze dripping with icy contempt. “Ms. Lilian, your role here is finished. Father’s condition has improved. This is a family matter now—you, as an outsider, should leave.”

Lilian didn’t even glance at him. Cradling the soft, delicate fur of the little fox nestled in her arms, she spoke with a slow, unbothered drawl, “I’m waiting for Mr. Gordon to explain himself. There was an ambush on the way to your house—don’t you think I deserve some clarity? Otherwise, it wouldn’t be like me. I believe in instant karma; without it, I wouldn’t sleep at night.”

Killian’s face flushed with fury, veins visibly throbbing as he seemed on the verge of exploding.

Gordon’s voice cut through the tension once again, sharp and commanding. “I asked her to stay. Are my words no longer respected? Let me remind everyone—while I am alive, my decisions stand in this house.”
