**Chapter 605: Laney’s Ending 5**
Lilian’s hand froze mid-motion, her fingers poised in the air as if suspended by an unseen force. Her gaze bore into Laney with a sharp intensity, demanding, “What did you just say?”
Laney’s lips curled into a captivating smile, one that could charm the most stoic of hearts. “Oh, Lilian, aren’t you just the epitome of brilliance? So untouchable? What’s the matter? Are you unable to strike because you realize your two little friends might suffer because of you?” She leaned in closer, her breath warm against Lilian’s skin, and pointed to her own cheek, tauntingly adding, “Go on, take your shot right here. I promise you, I won’t flinch or try to evade it.”
In a flash of anger, Lilian seized Laney by the collar, her voice a low growl, “What have you done to them?”
A triumphant glimmer danced in Laney’s eyes as she deftly pulled Lilian’s hand away. She strolled over to the table, picked up a glass of wine, and savored a sip, relishing the moment. “What could I possibly do to them? Naturally, I’m treating them to a delightful feast and fine drinks. After all, we’ve shared so much time together. I can’t possibly mistreat my lovely roommates, can I?”
With a sharp edge to her voice, Lilian retorted, “Whatever grievances you hold, direct them at me. Why involve them in this mess? They have nothing to do with this from beginning to end.”
Laney’s smile twisted into something sinister, her eyes glinting with malice. “How can you say it’s unrelated? Each one of you played a part in pushing me to this point. From start to finish, not one of them stood by my side. They all rallied around you, convinced I was in the wrong. What’s so wrong about me seeking my own happiness? Just because Sebastian is your fiancé, Lilian? Why should you be the only one to bask in the good things life has to offer?”
“You, Lilian, already possess so much. All I ever wanted was Sebastian, but you wouldn’t even let me have that. So, whatever fate befalls them today, they can only blame themselves for having a friend like you.”
Lilian’s expression turned icy, her gaze penetrating as she regarded Laney with a chilling detachment. “What is it that you truly want?”
