Madam Tina quickly hurried over, her voice filled with concern as she asked, “Lilian, what exactly happened here?”
Lilian offered a faint, almost enigmatic smile. “It’s really nothing,” she replied softly.
Then, turning her attention to Ben Sawyer, she said with a calm yet firm tone, “Mr. Sawyer, didn’t you say I owed you an explanation? Very well. Let me provide one.”
Her gaze shifted toward the tearful girl by the poolside. “Yulia, why don’t you explain to everyone how you ended up in the pool? Be very clear—was it me who pushed you?”
Yulia trembled slightly, her sobs growing louder as she buried herself deeper into her mother Mandy’s protective embrace.
Mandy gently stroked her daughter’s back, whispering soothing words. Then, with a sharp hiss, she snapped, “She’s already like this, and you’re still pressuring her? Are you even human? Is this how your parents raised you? It’s truly shameful.”
Another voice chimed in, bitter and accusatory. “Yeah, if you pushed her, just admit it. She seemed so well-behaved, but who knew she’d be so calculating.”
Huddled in her mother’s arms, Yulia’s eyes darkened, her expression turning cold and fierce as she watched the crowd slowly begin to turn against Lilian. The resentment she had harbored for so long started to dissipate. Think you’re so clever? Taking me on? You don’t even know your place.
Lilian met Yulia’s icy stare and suddenly let out a soft, almost amused chuckle. Under the bright lights, her eyes sparkled like stars, dazzling and intense.
With a slow, deliberate step forward, Lilian advanced. Although her movements appeared casual, there was an undeniable commanding presence about her that made the entire crowd tense up instinctively, unsure why.
Yulia’s panic grew as Lilian approached, but then she reminded herself—no one here could prove Lilian hadn’t pushed her. And with the influence of the Sawyer family, even the powerful Shanks would have to show some respect. This time, Lilian wouldn’t slip away. That thought brought a small measure of calm to Yulia’s racing heart.
The guests watched Lilian’s serene expression with confusion. Just as whispers of bewilderment spread through the crowd, Lilian suddenly lifted her foot—and kicked Yulia forcefully into the pool.
A collective gasp echoed around the area. No one had anticipated such a bold move. Before anyone could react, someone dove in to pull Yulia out again. But this time, it wasn’t easy—Lilian’s kick had been powerful, unrestrained.
