Lilian slumped down next to him. “I had no choice but to sneak around and eat them behind your back. And the one time I do, you catch me red–handed! Isn’t that unfair? I should have worn my coat!”
Sebastian pulled the girl into his arms, his eyes full of affection. “I only forbid you from eating those food because your stomach isn’t very strong. Leonard gave me strict instructions to ensure you don’t eat indiscriminately. Besides, the street snacks really aren’t hygienic. If you eat too much and get sick, wouldn’t that be a massive loss? Tell me I’m wrong. If you really want to eat them in the future, I’ll have th chef learn how to make them for you at home, alright?”
Lilian nodded glumly. “Fine.”
Sebastian patted the girl’s shoulder. “Go get cleaned up and rest. Tomorrow is the Philips Corp anniversar gala, and you need to fight, right? You need to recharge your energy so you can defeat your enemies.”
Lilian instantly perked up. “Oh, right! I almost forgot.” She took out her phone, pulled up a photo, and showed it to the man. “I accidentally took this picture today. Can you check out the man in it for me?”
Sebastian looked at the photo, sneering. “There’s no need to check. I know this person. Jackson, the second son of the Philips family.”
“What!” Lilian was shocked. “Are you saying he is that Jackson?”
Sebastian nodded. “Yes, the one you’re thinking of–the second son of the Philips family who sold your mother all those years ago.”
Lilian was beyond shocked. She looked dumbfounded. “But, aren’t they siblings? If so, wouldn’t that mean…”
Sebastian stood up and pulled the girl with him. “Let’s go. I have something to show you.” He led her to the study on the second floor. The door opened instantly with fingerprint recognition.
This was her first time inside his study. The room was nearly one hundred square meters, designed in a pure European style. Behind the desk, the entire wall was lined with bookshelves holding various books and decorative items. A luxurious, retro palace lamp hung in the center, illuminating the room. There was also a small resting area with two sofas next to a massive floor–to–ceiling window draped with European- style curtains.
Sebastian retrieved a file from a shelf and handed it to Lilian. “Read this first. The answer you’re looking. for is in here.”
Lilian took the file, puzzled. When she read the contents,/she was utterly astonished. “Madison is not Merrick’s biological daughter.”
Sebastian nodded. “That’s right. Aside from the Philips family, almost no one outside knows this. I found out purely by accident. This Madison was supposedly adopted by Merrick because his wife loved having girls but had only given birth to two sons. Merrick, feeling sympathy for his wife, adopted Madison so his wife wouldn’t have to suffer another pregnancy. No one expected that a few years later, your grandmother would become unexpectedly pregnant and only then gave birth to your mother.”
