Janus didn’t miss a beat. “I don’t want the reputation of a man who climbed over his own brother’s body to get to the top. I’m handing you the blade; you do the cutting. Once I’m in charge, your fiancée is safe. Nobody will ever mention that land to her again. Deal?”
Sebastian was silent for a moment, weighing the options. “Deal. To a successful partnership.”
After they hung up, Sebastian stood and walked over to the floor–to–ceiling windows. He stared out at the gray, heavy sky. It looked like rain was coming.
The next day, Elsie’s interview started to have a real impact. Slowly but surely, the tide of public opinion began to shift in Lilian’s favor.
“Her medical skills at the CR exchange were incredible,” one user commented. “I was there. Jorge and Noah were basically her assistants. You can’t fake that.”
“Exactly. People need to stop talking trash without knowing the facts,” another added. “I actually use Skyreach products. They saved me. Who cares how old she is? Talent is talent.”
“Her classmate made a good point, too. Why would she need a sponsor when she’s with a guy like that? It’s obvious someone is trying to frame her.”
Of course, the hate didn’t disappear overnight. “Even if she’s a genius, she still ruined her own father,” someone argued. “She bankrupt the Sinclair Group and put her stepmother in prison. That’s cold, no matter how you spin it.”
“Agreed. High IQ, zero morals. She’s still trash in my book.”
The internet was a battlefield, split between those defending Lilian and those determined to see her fail.
Meanwhile, back at the Skyreach offices, Karina was buried in paperwork when Ryan burst into her office, nearly breathless. “Karina! The environmental report for the land is in!” He slammed the file onto her desk.
Karina grabbed the papers. As she scanned the results, her eyes went wide. “Is this for real?”
“Verified. They ran the tests multiple times to be sure. The results are solid.”
Karina let out a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding. “So that toxic pit everyone was complaining about… it was just a cover for a massive hot spring? This is incredible!”
“Even the experts were shocked,” Ryan said. “Finding a spring like this in this area is unheard of. It’s a high- quality mineral spring, too. This is a gold mine,”
“I have to tell Lilian,” Karina said, reaching for her phone.
At Ravenwood Manor, Lilian was already looking at a copy of the same report. “A hot spring?”
Sebastian nodded. “And it’s huge! It’s over a hundred thousand square meters. It’s a rare find. If I had to guess, Robert found out about the spring and that’s why he’s been so desperate to get the land back.”
