Jorge turned his sharp gaze toward Rowan. “I didn’t realize you were so preoccupied with other people’s business that you felt the need to stick your nose into Skyreach’s affairs. I don’t know what your problem is with Lilian, but let me tell you this: if Skyreach Group goes down, the Soren family won’t be far behind.”
Rowan felt a cold shiver run down his spine as he stared back at Jorge’s fierce expression. He had never expected Lilian to have this kind of network. Just how many powerful people were standing in the shadows behind her?
The sudden reversal left everyone in the room stunned. Just moments ago, it seemed like Skyreach Group was about to collapse, but the situation had flipped in the blink of an eye. Jorge’s arrival had been the ultimate shock.
Lilian watched Rowan’s stunned expression with a mocking smile. She reached out and plucked the certificate from his hand, glancing at it before laughing. “So this little book really is a treasure. And here I thought you were scamming me, Jorge.”
Jorge rolled his eyes at her. “Do you think I’d try to pawn off junk on you? If I did that, you’d stop sharing your new formulas with me, and I’d be the one losing out.”
Lilian smirked. “So that’s how it is. You’re playing the long game. Scratching my back so I’ll scratch yours.”
Jorge gave an awkward cough. “Whatever you say. Anyway, I have lunch plans with Noah, so I’m leaving. Carry on with your little meeting.”
He started to walk out, but stopped at the door and turned back. “Oh, by the way, Noah told me to tell you to stop by when you’re free. He’s working on something new and wants your opinion on it.”
“Sure thing,” Lilian replied. “I’ll head over as soon as I wrap things up here.”
It sounded like a casual conversation between colleagues, but it sent shockwaves through the audience. Two of the most legendary figures in the medical world were on casual, first–name basis with this girl. It was clear that Skyreach Group was playing in a completely different league.
Once Jorge was gone, Lilian turned back to the official. “So, was there anything else you wanted to inspect? I can have my team bring the files. Or perhaps you’d like to start the seizure now? I promise to cooperate fully.”
The official’s face broke into a frantic, awkward smile. “No, no! That won’t be necessary! Since

you have that certificate, I’m sure everything else is perfectly in order. We’ve bothered you enough for one day. We have… other matters to attend to. We’ll be going now.”
He hurried out with his subordinates, not even glancing at Rowan on his way out.
He was seething with rage toward Rowan. If it weren’t for that man’s tip, he would never have waded into this mess. Now, instead of gaining a favor from the Sorens, he had painted a target on his own back. He realized now that Lilian Harrington was someone you stayed away from if you valued

At the Soren estate, Robert sat on his sofa, his eyes fixed on the television screen with pure fury. He was rotating his stress balls so fast they were practically humming.
He couldn’t believe his foolproof plan had been dismantled so effortlessly by a teenage girl. It was infuriating.
What shocked him even more was her influence in Kingston. Jorge was a national treasure; he was the personal physician to almost every top–level leader in the country. Now, instead of crushing Lilian, they had managed to alienate one of the most well–connected men in medicine. Robert could already see his hopes for that piece of land vanishing into thin air.
“Idiot,” he hissed under his breath. “He can’t even handle a simple task.”
