Rewrite the Apocalypse dream (by Dee Cari) novel Chapter 102

Chapter 102 Timeline is moving faster

After leaving Ryan, Danielle, and young Josiah to rest in their slightly furnished ground-floor apartment, Joanna and Jake made their way up the concrete stairwell. The echo of their boots faded as they stepped into the second-floor unit to debrief with the rest of the crew.

Joanna immediately went to work in her own upstairs space, pulling a set of couches from her pocket dimension storage space. She placed them into the living room, arranging them so the core team finally had some furnishings to sit on. Even though she had just fully outfitted Ryan’s place downstairs with a dining table, beds, and kitchen essential stock, she was not ready to share the true, massive scale of her storage space ability with Ryan and his family just yet.

Allen grabbed Joanna’s tactical gear and the heavy duffel bags they had brought back, setting them down safely in one of the vacant upstairs bedrooms. He walked back into the living room, wiping his hands on his jeans.

“Alright,” Allen said, looking around the room as the rest of the core crew finally sank into the new couches. “I honestly don’t know how long electricity will last here, but probably only a few days.”

The team nodded silently, the weight of the exhausting, nerve-wracking drive through the infected city stil hanging heavy in the room.

Everyone sat back on the couches, silently sipping water from their bottles. Joanna glanced down at her watch, the glowing digital face showing it was almost midnight.

“Ok, let’s make it quick,” Joanna said, breaking the silence. “Which duffels have the jewelry?”

Jake pointed to the wall where two specific bags they had filled from the mall sat heavily against the baseboard.

“Good,” Joanna nodded, looking over the exhausted faces of her crew. “We can have a meeting in the morning. For now, I will take you in the space and we’ll find rooms and crash.” Without a word, she handed the asparagus seeds to Julian. They both shared a smirk.

She stepped forward and picked up the other remaining duffel bags filled with their gear and supplies. With a quick mental command, she swept them instantly into her storage space. A second later, she extended her ability to the core crew, and the entire team was moved inside the pocket dimension as well.

Even though the world outside was locked in midnight darkness, the space always stayed light. The absolute

breathe a peace and quiet inside the dimension immediately washed over them, making everyone collective sigh of relief after the night’s high-stakes run.

“Set alarms for the morning,” Joanna instructed as they began dispersing toward the designated rooms. “Who wants to cook tomorrow?”

Jolie, Allen, and Uncle Nate all volunteered, raising their hands.

“Ok, let’s meet at 8:00 AM,” Joanna finalized. “If you guys want to train, train before that.”

With everyone making their way to their designated rooms, the crew quickly settled in for the night and drifted off to sleep. The lingering tension from the infected streets finally dissolved in the profound stillness of the pocket dimension.

Finished

Joanna lay down and closed her eyes, letting the absolute security of her space wrap around her. But just as she began falling asleep, a familiar sensation rippled through her mind.

She heard the voice she had heard many times before, whispering softly but clearly into the silence:

Joanna, the timeline is moving faster… you got this.

The next morning, Joanna woke up later than intended, the mysterious warning from the voice still echoing faintly in the back of her mind. She threw on her gear and walked down to the kitchen area of the villa inside her storage space, where the rich aroma of coffee and cooking food filled the air.

Breakfast was already fully prepared and laid out on the table. Jolie was exceptionally sunny, smiling as she placed a platter of eggs down and immediately began teasing Allen about his terrible morning bedhead and how long he had spent trying to fix it. Allen didn’t skip a beat, leaning against the kitchen counter with a sarcastic smirk and firing back a quick-witted comment about her overly cheerful cooking playlist. Uncle Nate just shook his head with a chuckle, enjoying the easy banter. The rest of the team already eating.

“Look who finally decided to join the living,” Allen joked sarcastically as Joanna walked into the villa’s kitchen, checking his watch with an exaggerated sigh.

Jolie beamed, playfully swatting Allen’s arm before handing Joanna a fresh plate. “Ignore him, good morning! Sit down, eat. We’ve got everything ready.”

While eating, Joanna listened as Uncle Nate explained he had already taken care of the animals, adding that Raven and Titan were currently out picking a few berries in the production area of the space.

After breakfast, the atmosphere shifted as the deadline approached. Joanna looked around the table at the core team. “Did you guys get your things put away yet?”

Everyone nodded yes. They had all collectively skipped their morning training session to ensure every piece of gear and personal supply from the mall haul was organized and safely stored in their respective
