Chapter 111 Fine, get ready
Aeavy silence-fell over the room. Jake crossed his arms tightly, while Raven instinctively rested her hand on Titan’s head for comfort.
A heavy weight settled onto the team’s chests. Surviving a zombie apocalypse was already hard enough none of them expected the planet itself to turn against them with world-ending natural disasters.
Sensing the suffocating dread in the room, Jolie let out a dramatic sigh and crossed her arms/”Well,” she remarked, a smirk breaking through her serious expression, “at least we won’t have to worry about the zombies tracking us down when they’re frozen solid like giant popsicles.”
The ridiculous image instantly broke the tension. A wave of relieved chuckles rippled through the group. the heavy atmosphere lifting just enough for everyone to breathe again. Even Titan let out a sharp, happy bark, wagging his stubby tail against the floor.
A sudden, harsh cough from Rachel cut through the laughter, and the team’s faces immediately flooded with worry. Jake stepped forward, quickly placing the back of his hand against her forehead. His eyes widened. “You are burning up!”
“Don’t worry guys, she is awakening,” Joanna said smoothly, stepping in.
Rachel wiped her mouth, leaning into the couch. “I am awakening telepathy, everyone.”
Allen, her brother, stared at her in utter shock. “No way!”
Jolie blinked, equally stunned. “Can you show us?”
Rachel didn’t say a word. She just locked eyes with Allen. A second later, Allen slowly stood up, raised his hand, and delivered a sharp slap right across his own face. He blinked, rubbing his cheek in total disbelief. “Hey! Why did you make me do that? Worst sister ever!”
The room instantly erupted into roaring laughter and even Titan let out a short bark. Joanna nodded, half in exasperation at the sibling antics.
“Alright. Raven, I need you to watch over Rachel and help Uncle Nate with Willow and Mrs. Klein. “Jolie spoke up, waving a notepad. “I have a list of meals Danielle can cook over the next few days. Maybe we can pull out some chicken soup for the sick, too.”
Joanna glanced at the notepad, and a second later, the apartment’s kitchen filled with a few crates of fresh ingredients. Unsure how long the city’s power grid would hold, she also pulled out several heavy-duty generators and a gas miniature grill.
With the home front secure, Joanna turned her attention to the rest of the team. She was going to help her raid a tactical gear store they had used a few weeks back-a place stocked with weapons and a mountain of gear the team desperately wanted.
Joanna smirked, a playful glint in her eye. “Remember Aegis Solutions over in Blackwood? I want to wipe out the entire store.”
“Then I need to go to the shipping ports,” Joanna added, her plan expanding. “Honestly, I might not make it back until tomorrow.”

Chapter 111 Fine, get ready
Julian narrowed his eyes, his posture instantly stiffening. “Who are you taking with you?”
hought I would go alone,” Joanna said flatly.
Jolie’s face flooded with worry, and she stepped forward, shaking her head. “Boss, you can’t!”
Jolie crossed her arms, her tone leaving no room for argument. “Boss, you have to take someone with you. Going solo on a multi-day raid right now is way too dangerous.”
Julian smirked, sparks faintly crackling at his fingertips. “I should go. I could use the target practice.”
Joanna shook her head firmly. “No. I need you here to guard the apartments.”
Jake stepped in, placing a hand on Julian’s shoulder. “Me and Julian should come with you, Joanna. If we run into trouble at the ports or the tactical store, at least you’ll have my fighting power, and Julian has his electrical ability. We can move fast, and we can protect your back while you load up the dimension.”
Joanna couldn’t argue with their logic. She grumbled under her breath but finally gave in. “Fine. Get ready” she said, casting a slightly irritated glare at Julian. “You have ten minutes.”
Before they could even reply, she willed both of them directly into her pocket dimension, not caring whether they were fully prepared for the sudden transition or not. While Jake and Julian scrambled inside her space to grab weapons and heavy tactical gear, Joanna turned back to the rest of the room.
“Stay here and make sure you rest up,” Joanna instructed the remaining team members firmly. “Contact us by radio if anything happens.”
Joanna turned, grabbed her gear, and slung her tactical bag over her shoulder. Getting out of the city was going to be brutal; she knew from her dream that the military was about to take over and begin forcibly evacuating civilians very soon.
Not wasting another second, she walked out onto the balcony, took a brief look at the empty street below, and activated her space ability. She teleported twice in rapid succession, completely bypassing the stairwell and hopping straight down to the side street.
