Chapter 143 The Demoness, the Executioner, the Vortex, and the Phantom
Furshed
Rachel locked her eyes on a trio of heavily armed men charging with iron pipes, knives, and bats. She pushed her expanded telepathic frequency outward, slamming a crushing mental weight into their brains. All three men froze mid-stride, groaning loudly as they clutched their heads in pure agony, their weapons dropping from paralyzed fingers.
In the blink of an eye, Joanna vanished from the passenger seat.
A split-second later, she materialized directly in front of the staggered trio. Channeling her newly enhanced super strength, she threw a devastating, rapid-fire combination of punches. Her fists connected with a sound like thunder. The impact sent all three men flying fifteen feet back through the air, crashing hard into the wreckage of the blockade.
Joanna stood over the clearing, her hand resting on the hilt of Kailee’s sword as the remaining raiders began to panic.
With the initial wave shattered, the side doors of the van flew open. Julian, Rachel, and Kailee climbed out onto the blood-slicked asphalt, flanking Joanna in a tight tactical formation. The air around them crackled with leftover ozone, wind currents, and raw psychic energy.
The remaining raiders took one look at the team and hesitated, their savage confidence instantly vaporizing. They had expected an easy ambush against scrambled soldiers, not a squad of superhuman juggernauts.
What followed was pure, epic destruction.
Kailee swept her arms in a fluid arc, summoning cutting blades of wind that shattered wooden bats and snapped iron chains like twigs. Anyone who tried to close the distance was violently blown back into the concrete walls. Beside her, Julian walked forward like a storm god. He unleashed a continuous chain- lightning volley that leaped from raider to raider, lighting up the dark alleyways. The shockwaves from his blasts flipped abandoned cars onto their sides, crushing fleeing attackers beneath the heavy metal.
Rachel stood perfectly still, her eyes glowing with absolute focus as she broadcast a massive psychic scream across the battlefield. Dozens of raiders dropped to their knees simultaneously, clutching their ears from the intense mental pressure. For the targets Rachel paralyzed, Joanna became a ghost. She blinked out of existence, teleporting across the intersection in a sequence of rapid flashes. Every time she reappeared, her super strength found a mark, launching men into the air and crushing the blockade wreckage.
Within ninety seconds, the entire raider ambush was completely erased.
Silence descended on the intersection. The surviving military escort stood frozen in absolute shock. Soldiers lowered their rifles, their jaws slack as they stared at Joanna’s team.
“What… what is going on?” a private whispered from the lead truck, his voice trembling. “Did that just happen? Sir, what the hell are they?”
Will, who had already seen Joanna in action during an earlier skirmish, didn’t flinch. Instead, a giddy, ecstatic grin split across his face. He was practically vibrating with excitement, witnessing their greatness all over again. He forcefully clapped a hand onto the panicked private’s shoulder, leaning in to whisper fiercely to the surrounding men.

Chapter 143 The Demoness, the Executioner, the Vortex, and the Phantom
Finished
“Look at them!” Will hissed, his voice filled with awestruck reverence. “That’s the Demoness right there. And the lightning guy… he’s the Executioner. I told you guys she was a legend!”
The soldiers swallowed hard, nodding in terrified compliance while Will beamed with pride. Up ahead, Joanna stood over the clearing, casually shaking out her knuckles. She and her team returned to the van, completely unaware that their terrifying display had just earned them a set of legendary new nicknames among the ranks.
The soldiers quickly cleared the remaining debris from the intersection and jumped back into their armored trucks. The heavy diesel engines roared to life once more, and the convoy pulled ahead, navigating deeper into the dark, ruined streets of Aurora.
Inside the military vehicles, the atmosphere was frantic with nervous energy. The tactical radios were quiet, but the cabins were filled with the hushed, rapid chatter of the men. Will sat in the lead truck, still grinning like a kid who had just seen a superhero movie, while the privates in the back row couldn’t stop looking out the rear glass at the trailing van.
“I’m telling you, man, the Demoness didn’t even touch the ground when she moved,” one private muttered, leaning closer to his squad mate. “And the Executioner just fried seven guys like it was nothing.”
“But what about the other two girls?” another soldier asked, his eyes wide as he rubbed his arms, still feeling the phantom chill of the battlefield. “The one driving. Did you see that wind storm? She ripped those chains right out of their hands with a gust of air.”
“She controls the sky,” the first private nodded, trying to find a fitting title to match the fearsome reputation Will had established. “She’s like a localized hurricane. The Vortex.”
The driver of the truck glanced at the rearview mirror, nodding in agreement. “Yeah, Vortex fits. But the quiet one in the back? The one who didn’t even move? That girl is freaky. She looked right at those raiders, and they just started screaming and dropping to their knees. It was like she was melting their brains from the inside out.”
“She didn’t even lay a hand on them,” a corporal whispered from the corner of the cab, shivering. “That’s not a physical fight. That’s psychological warfare. She’s a ghost in your head. Just like a Phantom.”
“The Demoness, the Executioner, the Vortex, and the Phantom,” the private repeated, tasting the words. “God help anyone who gets in their way.”
