Chapter 184 Joanna Gets Level 3 Strength

Finished

Jone used her vines to expertly cut into the charred remains, extracting the glowing level-two cores from the Fallen beasts with a proud smile.

Joanna reached into her spatial storage and pulled out bottles of her rejuvenation spring water, handing them around to the group. The brief but brutal fight had forced everyone to burn through a massive chunk of their energy. Briggs took a deep swig, the faint smoke rising from his uniform fading away, while Julian drank with an elegant, aloof tilt of his head, his breathing quickly returning to normal.

Caleb cautiously hopped out of the truck, his face still pale but his eyes wide with analytical dread. “Joanna,” he said, his shaky voice cutting through the quiet highway, “if the wildlife is already at level two, the timeline is definitely moving up.”

Joanna capped her bottle, her eyes scanning the desolate road ahead before turning back toward the direction of Leo’s farm. “Caleb, isn’t it strange that advanced mutant dogs are wandering around just a few miles from that Virobane bush?”

Caleb nodded slowly, a deep frown settling on his face. “I don’t know what it means right now. But I do know that leveled-up mutant animals are not supposed to show up until the spring. Something out here is accelerating the mutation process.”

The chilling realization hung heavily over the team. The world was evolving at a terrifying pace, and their window of safety for the winter was shrinking by the minute.

Joanna looked at Rachel, her eyes narrowing as she scanned the perimeter. “RJ, is anyone around us? Any survivors or residents?”

Rachel closed her eyes for a split second, her mental telepathy stretching outward to sweep the immediate area. A few seconds later, she opened them and shook her head. “No. The coast is entirely clear. No minds within a two-mile radius.”

Joanna nodded, a firm, decisive look taking over her features. “Alright, change of plans. We are going into the space to absorb these cores. We need to lock in these level-two stats before we hit the actual town.”

In a fraction of a second, before anyone could even blink, the massive tactical beast, the newly harvested cores, and the entire team disappeared from the asphalt street. The dusty, frozen highway sat completely empty, and the group materialized instantly inside the bright, tranquil expanse of Joanna’s personal pocket dimension.

Inside the pocket space, the air was warm, clean, and perfectly still.

“Wow, much better,” Caleb breathed, stumbling out from behind Joanna, and sighing in immense relief. “No freezing wind, no bear-sized dogs.”

“Alright, people,” Joanna commanded, taking the glowing level-two cores from Jolie. “Let’s go into the living room of the villa and start absorbing the cores.”

She turned and led the way toward the massive, luxurious villa situated in the center of her pocket space. The warm air and plush surroundings were a stark contrast to the frozen highway they had just left behind.

“What level is everyone?” Joanna asked while walking into the living room, her eyes scanning her team as they found seats on the sprawling couches.

Rachel and Julian spoke up almost simultaneously, stating they were level two, while everyone else in the group confirmed they were still level one.

Caleb just sat quietly in the corner, offering a small, helpless shrug. His dreamweaver power was unique-it wasn’t something he could level up through zombie or mutant cores since he had been born with it naturally, leaving his base stats entirely reliant on his own human limits.

Julian, Rachel, and Joanna each grabbed a hefty pile of 200 level-one zombie cores, the sheer volume of energy needed to push them over the threshold to level three. Briggs, Jake, and Jolie took 100 level-one cores each to fuel their breakthrough to level two. Joanna then distributed the potent level-two mutant dog cores evenly among the group to maximize their stat gains, and for the next two hours, everyone pushed their bodies to the absolute limit.

The living room fell into a deep, vibrating silence, broken only by the crackle of breaking cores and the visible waves of elemental power rolling off the team.

At some point during the intense session, Uncle Nate and Raven walked into the villa’s main hall. They took one look at the glowing, hyper-focused group on the couches, immediately recognized the heavy concentration required for a breakthrough, and quietly turned back around to leave them to their work. At some point Caleb went to soak in the hot spring and tried to pull more mental threads on potential dangers coming ahead.

By the end of the grueling two hours, the air in the villa was thick with elevated pressure. Joanna opened her eyes, feeling a profound surge of dominance and strength flooding her veins at level three. Julian and Rachel exhaled slowly, their bodies thrumming with the sharp, refined energy of their new level-three stats, while Briggs, Jake, and Jolie stood up, stretching as their newly minted level-two powers settled deep into their muscles.
