Chapter 248 Jessica’s Thoughts Broadcasted To Everyone

Finished

“Why not?” Joanna continued, her tone frighteningly even as she looked at Caleb’s stunned expression. “You said most of the city is controlled by the two main factions, right? already crippled the Progeny, and Blood Fang is tied directly to Elliot as well. They wanted to hunt down Levi and his men anyway.”

She paced over to a stack of industrial containers, her fingers lightly trailing over the cold metal.

“The way I see it, this city fell a long time ago,” Joanna said, her voice dropping into a harsh, resolute register. “But those idiots don’t get to use this place as a breeding ground for aberrant zombies. If they want to build an empire of monsters out of these ruins, I’ll just remove the ruins from under them.”

Caleb swallowed hard, looking at her with a mix of awe and deep concern. He could tell by the absolute stillness in her posture that she wasn’t just venting her frustration she was actively calculating how much gasoline and explosive material she currently held in her pocket dimension to get the job done.

“I can isolate the main places Blood Fang are in,” Caleb said, his initial shock giving way to focused strategy. “Hit those points and send a slow burn across the city. It could work.”

…Joanna nodded, the plan solidifying in her mind. She quickly sent Caleb out of her space so he could find

a quiet spot in the bedroom to meditate and hunt for those dream threads.

Once he vanished, Joanna walked over to check on Piper. The giant pulser plant was napping soundly in a corner of her spatial yard, completely dead to the world after eating its zombie reward. Joanna squinted at it, her eyes narrowing slightly. Did Piper get bigger? She shook her head with a faint chuckle and headed inside her private villa.

Changing out of her filthy, ash-caked tactical gear, she pulled on a bikini and stepped into her hot tub. She sank into the steaming water, closing her eyes in absolute bliss as the heat enveloped her. The warm, treated water immediately went to work, easing the deep tension in her muscles while her minor cuts and bruises from the concrete wall impact slowly began to heal.

As she floated in the quiet warmth, a fleeting thought crossed her mind. When did she turn into someone so ruthless?

Joanna let out a small, sharp smile into the steam. Does it matter? This post-apocalyptic world was ruthless first.

Downstairs, the atmosphere in the main hall was thick with tension. Jessica was practically chasing Julian around the grand living room, her manicured fingers clinging to the sleeve of his shirt as she tried every trick in her arsenal to get his attention.

“Oh, come on, Julian,” Jessica purred, leaning in entirely too close. “You’re completely exhausted. Let me help you unwind. We used to be so close before the world went to hell.”

Julian wrenched his arm away, his expression twisting into an unmasked grimace of pure disgust. He took three large steps back, putting a solid dining table between them. “Jessica, stop. I told you, I’m dirty, I’m tired, and I have a team to debrief. Go back to your room.”

Seeing that her plan to seduce him was failing completely, Jessica fell silent. She smoothed down her pristine blouse, her eyes darkening as she watched him run a hand through his hair, his anxious gaze repeatedly darting toward the upstairs staircase.

Chapter 248 Jessica’s Thoughts Broadcasted To Everyone

It was obvious. He didn’t care about her because he was always looking at that cold fish, Joanna.

Finished

Maybe I should just take care of that witch, Jessica thought, her mind twisting into a dark, petty labyrinth. Once she’s out of the picture, Julian will finally see what’s right in front of him and accept me.

In her warped reality, Jessica quickly cast herself as the tragic victim. It wasn’t her own desperate clinging or Julian’s blatant rejection that was the problem-it was Joanna’s fault. Joanna had stolen what belonged to her, and Joanna was going to pay for it.

Jessica glanced over at the other women in the room, her thoughts twisting deeper into madness. Then I will deal with the other bimbos in this group. Julian will be mine alone.

Sitting on the couch nearby, Rachel’s eyes narrowed. She let out a cold, sharp smile and immediately broadcasted a message across the team’s mental link.

Hey, I am picking up definite intent to harm from Jessica, Rachel chatted. She wants to go after Joanna, and then she’s coming after the rest of us just to get Julian alone.

Julian’s mental reply was an instant, exhausted groan. How did I never realize how stupid Jessica actually was?

He didn’t even look back at Jessica as he rubbed his temples, his disgust with her turning into pure annoyance. In a world full of flesh-eating monsters and ruthless super factions, Jessica was still playing high school drama games, completely unaware that she was trapped in a house full of hardened killers who could read her mind.

The team’s quiet telepathic chatter tapped right into Joanna’s mind just as she was drying her wet hair. Stepping out of her spatial hot spring, she tied her fluffy pink robe securely around herself. Her skin looked beautiful, flushed with a healthy glow from the steaming water that had successfully erased the grime of the damp subway tunnels.

Letting out a soft laugh through the mental link, Joanna teased, Really? A murderous high school drama plot? That’s what we are dealing with right now?

Julian’s mental response sounded instantly panicked, his tone dripping with sheer embarrassment. Don’t worry about it, Joanna! Seriously, stay upstairs and relax. I will throw Jessica out of my house right now.

Joanna huffed through the mental link, a playful glint in her eyes, No, let’s see how this play turns out.

She exited her spatial dimension, materializing softly in the locked bedroom where Caleb sat by the window, deep in his meditative trance. Slipping her feet into a pair of cute pink bunny slippers, she unlocked the door and stepped out.
