Rewrite the Apocalypse dream (by Dee Cari) novel Chapter 277

Chapter 277 I’m Basically Michelangelo With Dirt

The tires of the Beast chewed through the rugged wasteland dirt, leading a massive, roaring convoy our into the open unknown. Joanna sat in the back and leaned her head back against the headrest, watching the hollowed-out shell of their old compound shrink in the side mirror until it vanished into the dust.

Inside the heavily modified, oversized tactical vehicle, the seating arrangement was packed but fiercely efficient. Jake, drawing on his army background, held a steady hand on the steering wheel, using his metal manipulation to micro-adjust the truck’s heavy chassis on the fly as they navigated the winding highway toward the jagged peaks of Evercrest.

Next to him in the cavernous cabin sat their absurdly overpowered inner circle with Allen in the front. They were a finely tuned machine. Every mile or so, a stray pack of zombies would stumble onto the asphalt, only to be seamlessly dispatched as the team casually took turns showing off. Jake wouldn’t even slow down. Allen would flick a finger, using his earth manipulation to raise a jagged stone spike that perfectly skewered a walker, instantly shattering its skull on impact. Through it all, Joanna would lazily wave her hand out the window, using her storage space ability to magnetically sweep the glowing zombie cores straight into her pocket dimension.

The silence inside the cab didn’t last long.

“I’m just saying.” Allen muttered, leaning his elbow on the window frame and staring at the rolling hills. “Combining seismic feedback with immediate terraforming to strike a zombie’s weak point from three hundred yards away is a literal art form. I’m basically Michelangelo with dirt.”

“Michelangelo with dirt? RJ snorted from the row behind him, crossing her arms. She briefly flashed a smirk, using her telepathy to force a stray zombie on the roadside to do a clumsy tap-dance before it threw itself off a cliff. “Allen, you missed a walker three minutes ago and almost buried a perfectly good highway sign under a boulder. If anyone is carrying this team, it’s me. I just made a dead guy do the Macarena.”

“Please stop playing with their minds, RJ, it’s highly unprofessional,” Julian sighed from the middle row. Even in the wasteland, he carried himself like a cold, calculating CEO. As the Executioner, his fingers sparked with a faint, restless hum of electricity as he reviewed a set of paper facility blueprints. “And Allen, your ‘art form’ is kicking dust into the radiator.

“Oh, look at Mr. Corporate Overlord getting cranky,” Jolie laughed, weaving a small, glowing vine between her fingers to sprout a tiny, mocking flower on top of Julian’s head. “Caleb, please weave a passive dream or something. Put him to sleep. He’s bringing down the vibe.”

Caleb, the team’s passive dream weaver, just leaned back against the headrest, a relaxed smirk on his face. “Can’t do it, Jolie. Besides, last time I tried to soothe Julian’s subconscious, his brain just generated a massive list of quarterly tactical efficiencies. It was a nightmare for both of us.”

I am a man of structure,” Briggs growled from the far corner, his stern Army Commander demeanor radiating through the cabin. A tiny, frustrated spark of fire danced across his knuckles, instantly singeing Jolie’s rogue vine into ash. “Unlike the rest of you, who treat a high-stakes militarized relocation like a family road trip to a theme park.

“Oh, lighten up, Commander! Blink twice if the wasteland hurt your feelings,” Kailee barked brashly, letting out a loud laugh as she flicked a sharp, concussive air pulse out her window, completely vaporizing the upper half of an approaching zombie.

Joanna didn’t open her eyes. She just raised three fingers, her palm casually flicking upward a second later

as three more zombie cores zipped through the window crack and dissolved into her spatial void.

Finished

Beside her, young Raven tapped her temples, deep in her animal communication link. On her lap, Titan- the ractical-vest-wearing Corgi-let out a sharp, muffled boof. Suddenly, a massive boulder that had dislodged from the mountain cliff froze in mid-air right above the hood of the truck. Titan’s eyes glowed faintly as his gravity control completely neutralized the rock’s weight, letting it float harmlessly away into the canyon like a stray balloon.

“Good boy, Titan!” Raven cheered, scratching the Corgi behind his oversized ears. “He says Dante and the pigeons reported a massive horde about five miles up, near the lower gates. He wants to know who gets the big drop.”

“Mine!” Briggs, Allen, and Kailee shouted in unison.
