Rewrite the Apocalypse dream (by Dee Cari) novel Chapter 317

Chapter 317 Let’s Talk About The Bug On My Window Sill

Glacier, looking dark with rage, spoke quietly. “You two should stand back.”

Joanna didn’t have to be told twice. Grabbing Caleb by the jacket, she teleported them instantly to the far corner of the room. A few seconds later, the heavy thud of frantic footsteps could be heard coming down the stairs outside.

Joanna spoke up quietly from the shadows of the corner. “I want to find out if that bug transmits to a closed circuit or to someone else.”

Glacier gave one cold, mechanical nod, his eyes fixed entirely on the door, completely refusing to look back at her.

Caleb, still totally unaware of Glacier’s mounting discomfort and the lethal tension thick enough to cut with a knife, murmured up to Joanna. “We should really allow him on the team. He wouldn’t betray you then. You wouldn’t be nervous of him anymore.”

Joanna spoke through gritted teeth, her glare fit to kill. “Not now, Caleb.”

He sighed heavily but shrugged. “Don’t worry, Glacier is smarter this time. He just didn’t realize that Pebbles was actually a call girl turning tricks…”

Joanna shoved her hand squarely over his mouth before he could finish the sentence. “Shut up!” she hissed.

Glacier tensed up completely at his desk. Joanna watched in mounting dread as the floor around his boots began to crackle, thick, jagged lines of frost rapidly forming and crawling across the floorboards. He definitely heard that.

A sharp, heavy knock rattled against the wooden door frame before Joanna could even attempt to defuse the situation.

“Enter,” Glacier commanded, his voice dropping into a register so dangerously low it made the hair on the back of Joanna’s neck stand up. “Throw them both in here, then leave.”

The door swung open, and Anderson stepped inside, roughly shoving two figures ahead of him. Sam and Pebbles stumbled into the room, half-dressed and looking like a volatile mix of terrified and furious. Sam was missing his shirt, his chest breathing hard, while Pebbles frantically clutched a silk robe around herself. Both looked up, their eyes darting wildly between the furious ruler of the ice palace and the shattered remains of the listening device in the trash can.

Sam was a lanky, sharp-featured young man with a messy mop of sandy-brown hair and twitchy, close-set eyes that always seemed to be searching for an exit. Pebbles was striking, with high cheekbones and long, bleached-blonde hair, though her normally perfect makeup was now violently smudged with panic.

Anderson offered a grim nod, turned on his heel, and pulled the door shut behind him.

The moment the latch clicked, Glacier raised a hand. With a harsh, freezing hiss, a thick, opaque sheet of solid ice surged from his palm, instantly sealing the door and frosting over the windows in a heavy, inescapable cage of permafrost. The room went entirely dim, lit only by the faint, eerie blue refraction of the ice.

From the shadows of the corner, Caleb leaned his head against the wall, watching the display with wide,

Glacier didn’t notice. He slowly stood up from his desk, the deadly, frost-bitten aura radiating off him so intensely that the air in the room grew visibly foggy with every breath. He didn’t look at Joanna or Caleb. His gaze was locked strictly on the two traitors trembling before him.

“Now,” Glacier whispered, stepping around the desk, his boots crunching softly on the newly formed frost on the floorboards. “Let’s talk about the bug on my window sill.”

Sam swallowed hard, his skin turning almost as pale as Glacier’s ice, while Pebbles took a frantic step back, looking toward the sealed door in utter despair. The interrogation had officially begun.

Pebbles shrieked, her voice shrill with a mix of terror and desperation as she looked at the shattered electronic pieces in the trash. “Glacier, I didn’t know! I swear!”

Sam swallowed hard, his eyes darting frantically around the room, finding no escape.

Glacier’s eyes narrowed into slits of pure ice. “I know you were planted by Blood Fang,” he said, his voice terrifyingly calm.

The accusation shattered Pebbles’ composure entirely. She started screaming, her hands gesturing wildly. “Sam forced me, Glacier! You know you’re the only man I ever-”

Before she could finish the lie, Glacier flicked his wrist. A jagged layer of ice instantly surged over her lips, sealing her mouth shut and turning her face a sickening shade of light blue. Pebbles stumbled backward, murmuring incoherently and frantically clawing at her own face to break the freezing barrier.

From the shadows, Joanna looked over at Caleb, her eyes wide with a look that clearly said: See what I mean? The man is an absolute psycho.

Sam held up both hands, his body trembling violently. “Glacier, let me explain! Please!” Desperate for a distraction, Sam’s eyes scanned the room and locked onto Joanna and Caleb standing in the corner. His expression froze. Recognition sparked in his eyes, followed by a raw, primal terror.

“D-Demoness…” Sam whispered, his voice cracking.

The sheer terror of facing both Glacier and the infamous spatial user cracked Sam’s resolve completely. A dark stain rapidly spread across the front of his pants as he literally wet himself, his knees shaking so hard they knocked together. He collapsed inward and confessed on the spot.

“Glacier, please calm down! It… it was me!” Sam sobbed.

Glacier didn’t offer mercy. He slammed his hand downward, and a torrent of frost erupted across the floorboards, instantly encasing both of Sam’s legs in heavy, solid blocks of ice, pinning him ruthlessly to the floor. Sam screamed in agonizing pain as the intense cold bit deep into his flesh.

Stepping forward, Joanna spoke up, cutting through the screams. “Is the bug an open transmission?”

“Yes!” Sam shrieked through his tears, desperate to stop the freezing pain. “It transmits directly to Elliot and Jax at the base there! They’re holed up in Eldon! There are several buildings that Blood Fang secured there!”

Glacier’s knuckles turned white. He deliberately crushed an ice blade in his right fist, letting the shards
