en Joanna and Jake pulled up to the apartment, they found the rest of the group already gathered in the living room, surrounded by piles of freshly secured supplies. The atmosphere was a mix of high-stakes adrenaline and relief that everyone had made it back safely.

Rachel and Raven immediately showed off the supplies they had bought for Uncle Nate. Stacked neatly against the wall were heavy-duty canvas jackets, reinforced work pants, sturdy steel-toed boots, a gleaming, new chainsaw, heavy shovels, and a premium compound bow with several bundles of arrows/Joanna also quietly stuffed the hot food they got for him in her space. Uncle Nate sat on the edge of the sofa, looking incredibly tired from the whirlwind evening but deeply satisfied with the rugged gear.

Allen leaned against the doorframe, crossing his arms with a classic, sarcastic smirk. “Well, Boss, while you guys were out grabbing takeout, I decided to actually be useful,” he drawled, rolling his eyes dramatically I picked up two brand new Jeeps sitting on the back lot. Tight, compact, full all-terrain drive, and they already have massive, reinforced steel bars installed on the front bumper. You know, just in case we need to plow through a bunch of infected people on our morning commute.”

Julian crossed his arms, leaning back with his usual arrogant tilt of the chin, though his expression softened just a fraction. “The dealership was practically begging for a handout with the grid crashing,” Julian remarked smoothly, his tone laced with his typical corporate superiority. “But I suppose I have to give credit where it’s due. Allen actually managed to use his brain and talked the dealer down on the price since we had a mountain of cold cash. He did well, for once.”

“Excellent work, both of you,” Joanna said, dryly ignoring the bickering but genuinely impressed by their initiative. “Those vehicles will be invaluable when the streets completely lock up. I will throw them in my space later.”

As the team continued organizing the crates of tools and fuel canisters, Jake silently reached into the pet store bag. With a completely straight face, he pulled out the tiny, tactical black mesh vest and held it up by the shoulder straps. The bright pink patch reading FBI: FURRY BARK INVESTIGATOR stood out vividly against the dark fabric.

The room went dead silent for a fraction of a second before everyone immediately lost it.

Jolie burst into a loud laugh, clutching her stomach as she marched right up to the massive soldier. “Oh my god, Jake! No way! You went out at the beginning of the apocalypse and came back with a tiny Corgi costume?” She began gushing over the vest, poking his armored shoulder. “Look at you, big guy, a secret softie. Did you pick out the little pink paws yourself?”

Jake didn’t blink. He lowered the vest, staring down at Jolie with a completely deadpan expression. “Titan is an asset. Assets require uniform identification. It was the only size in stock.”

His rigid, military defense only made the group laugh harder, the sound of genuine joy cutting through the grim reality of the world collapsing right outside their windows.

Raven slid out from the crowd, a rare grin breaking across her face as she took the tiny vest from Jake’s massive hands. She whistled softly, and Titan came trotting into the center of the room, his fluffy round butt swaying with every step. With everyone watching in amused silence, Raven knelt down and smoothly put the vest on and clipped the tactical mesh over his thick chest.

Titan stood perfectly still, then let out a sharp, happy bark, completely unaware of the bright pink FBI: FURRY BARK INVESTIGATOR patch on his flank. Even the arrogant Julian couldn’t hold back a genuine

es staying with me tonight,” Raven announced, scooping the fluffy dog up into her arms. Titan immediately tried to lick her chin, his short legs dangling. “He’ll sleep much better in my room.” Titan warmed up a lot more with the team after he was fed and turned into a typical corgi, slightly goofy and energetic.

A chorus of agreement went around the room, but the peace didn’t last long. Jolie turned right back to Jake, her arms crossed as she reignited the flame. “So, Mr. Military Special Ops, you still want to train this absolute apex predator to attack strangers? Please, enlighten us. How exactly is a Corgi supposed to attack/ anyone? Is he going to trip the zombies with his stubby little legs?”

Jake looked thoroughly annoyed, his jaw tightening as the rest of the team snickered. “Low center of gravity,” he growled, entirely serious. “Ankle biter tactics. If he targets the Achilles tendon, he can disable a threat.”

“He’s a foot tall, Jake! He’s more likely to get eaten like a snack!” Jolie shot back, teasing him relentlessly.

Jake looked completely exasperated, a rare look of defeat washing over his rugged face as he realized no one was taking his tactical canine theory seriously. He threw his hands up slightly, letting out a heavy, defeated sigh. “Fine. Skip the attack training. But at least let me train him as a guard dog. He has ears. He can bark when someone tries to breach the perimeter.”
