Chapter 666 Everyone Is Expendable
Cayden knew the sword was somewhere in the Solaria Mountains!
Steven suddenly understood.
Maybe some powerful figures in the military had predicted that there was a very high chance a fragment of the Ember Sacred Sword was hidden here.
That would explain why Cayden had been given strict orders not to retreat, no matter what happened.
On the surface, the Awakened Squad had been ordered to draw enemy fire while searching for the sword fragment.
But in reality, the military might have planned to use them as cannon fodder from the start!
Steven had clearly warned Cayden about the Goldbolt Ape on Heavenspire Peak. Yet Cayden had still filled everyone’s heads with promises and pushed them toward the mountain.
There was only one explanation.
Cayden wasn’t afraid of the Goldbolt Ape. Unless he had a death wish, he had gone there knowing he would have to fight it.
Which meant he probably had a hidden trump card capable of taking down the Goldbolt Ape!
As for bringing all these people along as cannon fodder, maybe it was meant to confuse the God Eaters.
Or perhaps there were military traitors involved in the plan.
The God Eaters had to die. But the Awakened from Draconia had to die too.
Maybe that was exactly what the Divine Eternal Hall wanted. Let them kill each other, then quietly take the sword fragment for themselves!
After all, Azure Dragon Divine Eternal wasn’t the only one who wanted it. White Tiger Divine Eternal and Black Tortoise Divine Eternal wanted it too.
A chill ran through Steven.
The more he thought about it, the more likely it seemed.
That had to be the real reason behind all of this!
Steven grew restless.
To those powerful figures, everyone here was expendable.
Damn it! I need to find a way out!
He had six teammates with him, plus Logan. Then there were another ten members of the Valkyries.
There was no way he could get that many people out at once.

Chapter 666 Everyone is Expendable
Steven moved closer to Alan and quietly told him his plan.
Ala nodded firmly, “I can do that.”
Steven then turned to Bianca.
“Bianca, be careful. I need to leave for a while.”
Bianca nodded. “Okay. You be careful too, Steven.”
“You guys too.”
Steven spread his wings.
Boom!
He broke the sound barrier and plunged straight into the beast horde, disappearing.
He couldn’t let anyone know what he was doing.
Once he was deep inside the horde, he used the poisonous fog as cover and shot into the sky.
With the massive battle raging below, no one would notice him.
Steven climbed to more than 30,000 feet.
He activated the Eye of Insight at full power and surveyed the entire Solaria Mountains.
Almost every beast in the region was moving toward the battlefield.
It looked like they intended to wipe everyone out in one attack.
Steven searched for somewhere safe.
Finally, he looked west.
