Chapter 714 The Hostages in Orroux
Everyone’s expressions changed instantly.
Hudson still has another trump card?
Finished
In the very next second, the air behind Hudson seemed to split open like an invisible curtain being pulled
aside.
Three figures stepped through.
One was an elderly man with a weathered face and a slightly hunched back.
Repulsive snake scales covered parts of his face.
Beside him stood two “young people” in battle armor. They only looked young because, judging by their auras, they were merely Four-Sigil.
Everyone was stunned, because the snake-scaled old man was a Seven-Sigil Divine Lord with an incredibly powerful aura.
The pressure radiating from him was even more terrifying than Ernie’s and Greyson’s!
Hudson really prepared a backup plan!
And they’ve been hiding nearby the entire time!
One of the young men clapped.
“What a show. I have to admit, I’m impressed.”
His voice sounded noticeably youthful, but the fact that he was the one speaking made it obvious he wasn’t ordinary.
Steven sneered, “Griffin, why bother hiding? You really think we don’t know it’s you?”
Griffin looked toward Steven.
He smiled and deactivated the concealment on his armor.
A sinister expression appeared on his face.
“So you already knew I was one of the God Eaters back at the Awakened Tournament?”
Steven sneered, “Did you really think nobody would notice when you pumped beast energy into their bodies?”
Griffin laughed. “So that’s how it was. You knew all along. You’re pretty good at keeping things to yourself. I really thought I’d covered every angle.
“Guess it still wasn’t enough.
“Didn’t expect you to be the one who ruined it.

“But you’re not exactly innocent yourself, are you?
You traitor to the God Eaters!

“That beast you summoned was clearly some kind of powerful beast too. Even I couldn’t identify it. It has to be at least demon-lord class, right? And yet you betrayed us to become a lackey of Draconia’s Divine Sanctum!”
At those words, everyone turned toward Steven.
A chill ran through him. The situation was starting to slip out of his control.
Is my beast-type Divine Sigil really about to be exposed?
On Draconia’s side.
The members of the various Awakened Squads couldn’t help staring at Steven’s back.
Steven is a traitor to the God Eaters?
Does that mean he was once one of them?
Many of them immediately started connecting the dots and wondering whether it could be true.
When they thought about Steven’s unusual abilities, his absurd combat strength, and the fact that he could fire energy beams from his mouth…
It was enough to make some of them wonder.
So… is Steven really one of the God Eaters?
Steven snorted. “You think a few words are enough to smear me?
“You’re giving yourself way too much credit. If you hadn’t still been useful back then, you would’ve died at the Awakened Tournament.”
Steven understood exactly what they were trying to do. They wanted to destroy his reputation and draw the attention of Draconia’s Divine Sanctum and the Celestial Army.
To Draconia, beast power appearing within one of its Awakened was the gravest possible offense.
There was a real chance his own people would kill him over it.
That would save the God Eaters the trouble of doing it themselves.
Their intentions couldn’t have been more obvious.
The one thing that reassured Steven was that Hudson didn’t seem willing to reveal that Bianca possessed the Ember Sacred Sword.
Or perhaps he knew and simply didn’t want to say it.

Hudson knew Bianca and the others wouldn’t dare reveal it either, which meant he still had a chance.
Even if he failed today, he could still go after the Ember Sacred Sword later.
As long as he escaped now, he’d have another opportunity in the future.
Steven could see all of that, and he wasn’t afraid.
At least Bianca’s safety would be protected for now.
