Chapter 123 The Ghost Returns
Hansel’s POV
“Sharon, call yourself whatever you want,” I said, my voice flat and hard. I refused to let the title Luna cross my lips.
To do so would be an insult to the position Natalie was supposed to hold.
She lunged toward the hospital room doors, but the two guards I had stationed there moved, crossing their arms to block her path.
“Sharon, you know perfectly well what kind of relationship you and the Alpha actually have,” I said, stepping closer until she had to look up at me. “If you still want to save any shred of face, leave now. Otherwise, I’ll have you dragged out like a common trespasser. Alpha Jensen needs peace and frankly, your voice isn’t providing it.
“You dare!” she shrieked, the sound piercing enough to make my ears ring.
I looked at the guards and gave a sharp, downward nod.
They didn’t hesitate as they seized her by the arms, one of them clamping a heavy hand over her mouth to stifle the next scream, and physically hauled her down the hall.
Her heels scraped violently against the marble as they dragged her, the sharp sound echoing down the corridor
after she was gone.
Even from inside I could still hear the muffled fury of her voice as the doors slammed shut
behind her.
For someone who had clawed her way into power through deception…
It was a fitting exit.
Pathetic.
Kae huffed in satisfaction.
‘Should’ve let me break something,‘ he muttered.
Not yet, I thought.
There would be time for that.

I pushed open the heavy doors to the room Jensen was laid in.

Jensen was starting to stir, his eyes flickering under his lids before they snapped open.
He let out a low, guttural groan, his hand twitching instinctively before the pain hit him.
“Alpha,” I said, moving to the side of the bed. “How do you feel?”
Jensen’s lips tightened into a thin, white line.
He didn’t look at me; he looked at the bulky, white mass of bandages where his hand used to be complete. “My hand…”
I hesitated.
I’ve seen men lose limbs in battle, but this was different.
How do I tell him that his fingers are gone? Does he know that his wolf has left him?
“Why wouldn’t he know? He’s a fool but can’t be completely stupid. Kae insulted in the back of my head.
“The doctors did everything they could, Alpha. But the blast… the tissue was too damaged. Your finger couldn’t be saved.”
Jensen turned his head slowly, staring at the bandages.
He just stared at his hands, the silence was heavy
“The laptop?” Jensen’s voice finally came out with a rasp.
I shook my head.
“I had the remains examined. Useless. The motherboard, CPU, hard drive–all destroyed.”
Jensen closed his eyes as if the information hurt more than his fingers being blown off.
He had known the moment it blew apart in his lap, but hearing it confirmed it seemed to tear something raw inside his chest.
“Natalie’s alive,” he whispered hoarsely. “This is her revenge.
My stomach tightened.

was about to claw its way back to the surface.
And if he was wrong…
Then this was the beginning of Alpha Jensen losing what little sanity he had left.
Neither outcome sat well with me.

I froze, the hair on the back of my neck standing up. “Alpha… the fire was enormous. It was impossible for her to survive… we saw the remains. We buried her.”
“We saw bones, Hansel! No one ever ran a DNA test!” Jensen’s eyes snapped open, burning with a frantic light. “Why else would the ashes have been stolen? And what about the nurse I hired for her? She vanished. No trace, no records. What if the body we found belonged to the nurse?”
The clarity in his voice was terrifying.
I didn’t argue.
The thought had haunted me too; the rushed cremation Sharon had insisted on, the missing details. Natalie had no one.
Who would have stolen her ashes… unless it was Sharon trying to hide the evidence of a failed murder?
“Do you think it could have been Sharon?” I asked softly. “Could she have taken them to ensure Natalie stayed gone?”
Jensen’s gut twisted; I could see the physical flinch in his shoulders.
The silence in the ward grew hea
pressing down on us until I finally sighed.
“Alpha, I’ll get you something to eat. You need to maintain your strength.”
He nodded absently, his mind clearly miles away.-
I stepped out to arrange for a meal, but I hadn’t even made it to the elevator when a notification bypassed every silent filter on my phone.
Across the continent, in every pack hall, a signal was broadcasting in real time.
The Keeper had returned.
It was a formal, high–frequency announcement sent through the ancient Scribe channels that

The message was simple, elegant, and devastating:

“The True Keeper has returned to the scrolls. Transcribing begins at the next moonrise.”
My blood turned to ice.
The keeper had always worked for all Alphas and Betas but originally from the Nightfang pack.
