Chapter 137 I’ll Tell Her Myself
Chapter 137 I’ll Tell Her Myself
Baron’s POV
I stopped by the door for a moment, trying to calm my nerves.
She can feel me through the bond and I didn’t want to scare her.
My mind raced through the implications and just then, the phone in my pocket vibrated.
It was Waylon.
I paused, staring at the name on the screen.
“Alpha Waylon,” I said, my tone neutral. “Are you and your son alright?”
“We’re fine,” Waylon’s voice came through, sounding strained.
“Thank you for your concern, Baron. I wanted to let you know… we won’t be coming today, or anytime soon.”
I didn’t interrupt.
I knew what this meant and I’m happy he knows too.

“Once I’ve cleaned up matters within the family,” Waylon continued, “once the shadows are purged and the traitors are silenced, I’LL officially welcome Natalie home. Until then, she is safer with you… I am currently a liability.”
I found myself agreeing with his approach.
It was the only logical move.
If she went to him now, she would be walking into a nest of vipers.
“Do you want me to tell her about your relationship?” I asked. “She’s waking up now and she’ll want to know why her father isn’t at the door.”
“Of course!” Waylon’s voice rose with a sudden, desperate longing,
He sounded like a man who couldn’t wait another day to claim her.
“Natalie is my daughter… even if I can’t bring her home openly yet, I want her to know she has a family. Tell her… tell her lam coming for her.”
I gave a small nod to the empty hallway.
“Alright. In the meantime, I’ll take good care of her. You focus on getting the perpetrators… I don’t want Natalie returning only to be targeted and watched all over again. I won’t let her move from one battlefield to another.”
With that, I ended the call.
I was about to head back into the room when another of my scouts ran up the stairs, breathless.
He leaned in and whispered a few words in my ear; reports from the Nightfang pack.

My face changed instantly.
The Nightfang Pack was moving.
They were making a play for the Keeper’s assets before they realized the Keeper was officially gone.

“Get things ready,” I snapped, my eyes glowing. “I’m going to the Nightfang Pack. If they want to play with fire, I’ll help them.”
He rushed off to gather the team.
I took a deep breath, smoothing my features, and pushed open the bedroom door.
Natalie had finished washing up.
She was standing before the floor–to–ceiling window, the morning light catching the emerald on her neck.
I didn’t say anything at first.
I walked to the side table, lit a cigarette, and leaned against the frame.
I wasn’t a heavy smoker; usually, the habit was just a way to steady my hands, but now, the smoke felt like a way to distract myself.
I needed to touch her.
She’s just standing there looking all beautiful… all mine.
I turned, looking into space, a wave of fear rushed through me.
It wasn’t mine, it was from her.
And suddenly, I felt a soft warmth against my back.
Natalie had stepped forward, slipping her arms around my waist from behind.
She pressed her cheek against my back, her touch light yet grounded.
It was an instinctive gesture of comfort, one that made Raze purr with an unexpected softness.
At this moment, her embrace made me feel as though I had something worth fighting for.
“What is it?” her voice was soft, still raspy from sleep. “Did something happen?”
She must have felt my emotions earlier.
I quickly put out the cigarette in a nearby tray and caught her fingers at my waist, turning slightly so I could feel her more.
“There are two things I need to tell you,” I said, my voice low.
“Go on.” She didn’t let go, still leaning into me, her head resting against my spine.
Without her gaze on me, it felt easier to speak. I didn’t want to see the pain in her eyes as I changed the only reality she had ever
known.
“Natalie, you already know about the Stone family’s DNA test. We talked about the possibility… and the results came out

yesterday…” I paused, expecting a reaction but only got silence.
“You’re Waylon and Ruby’s biological daughter. You aren’t an orphan, you are a Stone.”
I felt her breath hitch against my back, but she didn’t pull away.
“As for why you were switched,” I continued, laying it out with brutal honesty.

“The Stone family… Your family has promised to uncover the truth, but the lead is dark. Back then, after they thought you’d died, they had your Uncle Xenon do a paternity test on the infant they buried.”
‘You don’t have to tell her all these, Raze said in my head but I ignored.
If I was telling her… then I had to tell the full story.
“He lied… he told them the child was theirs, which is why they never realized you were still alive. And then, conveniently, Xenon and his entire family died in a car accident within three years of that lie.”
I didn’t give her time to process the conspiracy, I just needed to get the hardest parts out of the way.
I knew Natalie; she was a Scribe, her mind built to analyze patterns.
“They will get to the bottom of it,” I said. “Waylon… no, your dad is already purging his ranks.”
There was a long silence.
Natalie didn’t say anything, she just stopped…
Finally, she spoke, her voice small. “They will get to the bottom of it. But… no one came to see me? If I’m their daughter… wouldn’t they want to see if I’m real?”
My heart suddenly sank… I didn’t know if it was mine or hers.
I turned to face her, catching her chin in my hand and forcing her to look at me.
Her eyes had a faint shimmer of moisture in them that she was trying to hide.
“They came yesterday,” I said, my voice low and soothing. “Waylon and Flynn were both here. But you were too tired, too deep in sleep, and I refused to let them disturb you. I told them to come back today.”
I paused, my thumb brushing her lower lip. “But on their way back to their hotel, they were forced off the road. A car accident.” “What?” Natalie’s heart jumped; I could feel the pulse in her neck beneath my fingers. “Are they alright? Baron, are they-?”
“They’re fine,” I assured her quickly. “Minor scrapes. But it’s clear this ties back to the traitor who helped Xenon twenty years ago. Your father just called me and wanted me to tell you who you are, to let you know he’s yours, but he won’t bring you back until he’s purged your family of every threat. He wants you to have a home, not a graveyard.”
I watched her closely, fearing she might be upset or feel rejected. After all, she had spent her life being discarded.
But Natalie only leaned her forehead against my chest, her hand clutching the silk of my robe.
“He’s protecting me,” she whispered.

“Yes,” I said, wrapping my arms around her and pulling her flush against me. “And so am I. That’s why I’m going to the Nightfang Pack to finish the work Waylon started. I’m going to make sure that by the time you step foot in your father’s house, there isn’t a single person left alive who dares to look at you with anything but respect.”
Raze let out a low, echoing howl of agreement.
