I stood at the top of the airstair, my hand clamped firmly on Natalie’s waist. My mark on her neck felt hot, pulsing in rhythm with my own heartbeat. I was her Alpha; she was my Luna.

And I was already itching to tear apart anyone who looked at her for more than a second.

A group of men had rushed toward us the moment the tires touched the tarmac.

My men were already on high alert, but the lead man moved with his hands up in surrender.

“Miss, we’re bodyguards of the Stone family! Alpha Waylon and Alpha Flynn sent us to protect you!” the man shouted, bowing low enough to show the back of his neck.

I felt Natalie freeze beside me.

The feeling of her confusion hit me instantly.

“The Stone family?” she murmured, her voice barely a whisper.

“Yes, Luna,” the man spoke quickly, sensing my gaze.

He addressed her by her rank, a smart move if he wanted to keep his head.

“We have fortified the perimeter, Alpha Waylon said whatever you want to do, whatever vengeance you seek to unleash on this city, the entire Stone family stands behind you as your shield. And… they wanted to ask if you’d be willing to officially change your name to Natalie Stone.”

My eyes narrowed into lethal slits.

I didn’t like it.

I didn’t like the way they were trying to claim her the second her feet touched the ground.

Raze growled in my head, and as if sensing our anger, Natalie placed her hand on my hand calming us both down.

Natalie gave a small nod at the guard who still bowed his head in respect.

She was growing into her role as my mate faster than I had anticipated.

“You say you’re with the Stone family,” she said, her voice steady and cool. “Do you have proof?”

“I’ll call the Alpha on video right now, Luna.”

The head bodyguard – Chris pulled out a secure device and dialed.

Moments later, the high–definition screen flickered to life.

Waylon Stone’s face appeared, and for a moment, he looked like he’d aged a hundred years.

“Natalie…”

He couldn’t even get past her name before his voice cracked.

Her fingers tightened… then loosened.

I knew Waylon hadn’t slept since our last meeting; and he had delayed his public acknowledgment only to protect her from the vipers in his own pack, but the sight of her now seemed to break his last shred of composure.

Standing beside him was Ruby Stone.

Her face was pale, her eyes already swimming in a fresh layer of tears.

“Natalie, I’m your

mother.”

She was far more emotional than Waylon, her voice a fragile, desperate thing.

“My daughter, I truly didn’t know you were still alive. If I had known… if I had sensed you were out there, I never would’ve let you suffer so much in the hands of your adopted family. Natalie, once your father and brother finish purging the traitors from our family, I’ll come bring you home myself.”

Ruby’s eyes were bloodshot, the tears spilling uncontrollably.

I watched Natalie’s reaction.

She had seen Ruby before; she knew the woman had carried the weight of a dead child in her heart for two decades.

I could feel the softening through our bond.

“Take care of yourself.” Natalie said softly. “I’ll be okay… I have Baron here with me…

he’ll always protect me.”

She turned her gaze to me with a smile that almost made me take her back to my pack.

Waylon speaking again ruined the moment, “Natalie, you are the Stone family’s eldest daughter. You are a Royal Scribe by blood. Everything we have in the Nightfang pack is at your disposal. Chris is in charge here; you can trust him. And about your name…”

Natalie didn’t hesitate.

She looked out at the skyline of the city, “fine. Change it to Natalie Stone.”

‘She’s ours… Raze rambled in my head, Natalie’s scent was the only thing keeping me from snapping.

Her ties to the Summers family had died the night Sharon lashed her mercilessly with that silver–tipped whip, eager to see her bleed out.

When Waylon and Ruby heard her agree to the name change, they both looked like they’d just seen a miracle.

“Good, good! Chris, she’s now your responsibility,” Waylon barked.

“Thank you for everything you’ve done. I happen to need it,” Natalie spoke calmly.

Her words made my chest tighten.

She knew I wanted to be her only provider, her only shield. She only smiled lightly, a playful glint in her eyes. “Then I’ll hang up for now,” she told the screen.

“All right. Call your father and mother anytime you need anything,” Waylon said.

Natalie gave a small, polite nod before the screen went dark.

As soon as the connection severed, I pulled her firmly against my side, my arm locking around her waist.

I stared down at her, my gaze lethal. “You really plan to live in the Stone family’s house?”

I breathed in her air, calming Raze.

“You’re mine.”

*Just mine.”

“You don’t need them.”

I didn’t care who was watching.

If she had uttered even a single word of true refusal, I might have carried her over my shoulder and taken her to my own pack to remind her exactly whose Luna she was.

Natalie only laughed, a soft sound that bypassed my anger and went straight to my heart.

She wrapped her arms around my neck, pulling me down to her level to give me a measure of reassurance.
